2nd edition "ATC" allows you to use your TL-s?

By Commander Kaine, in X-Wing

"While you perform a primary attack, against a defender you have locked, roll 1 additional attack dice, and change 1 [hit] result to a [crit] result"

So, all of the revealed Advanced pilots do this, in addition to their regular abilities. Nowhere in this it states that you cannot use the lock.

It no longer adds a result, but it means now you can spend it.

What do you guys think?

Yup, that's how they work.

You get functionally 3 attack with change a hit to a crit, rather than the two on the card.

Does make me wonder why the card says 2 instead of just saying 3 and having ATC be 'change a hit to a crit'.

Because you could conceivably NOT ahve a ship locked? MAybe you bumped, or you were stressed, or you hit a rock, or you really needed an evade...

ATC lets you spend your lock, but FCS does not.

The timing will create some interesting choices. If Maarek rolls focus-blank-blank, and have a focus and target lock, do you spend the focus before rerolling to get the hit, so that you can then gain the crit? Otherwise, once the lock is spent, you'd no longer meet the criteria for ATC to convert a die into a crit. But that also could expose you to a scenario where you reroll into two focuses.

Oh derp it still requires the lock. It's way too tired and I'm way too late or whatever.

It's really good for finishing off targets but I think it's better to keep the tl for the long run esp because action efficiency is going to be lessened without PTL

We might see a lot of token buff synergy in the future (fleet officer, if it hasn't been changed) to account for less actions

But added flexibility is nice

And with fcs you can get the best of both worlds!

Where was FCS spoiled? I must have skipped over it

They play a game, it shows up during list building on a Marek Steele tie/x1

Compared to 1.0, it and sensors got nerfed HARD

Probably for the best, though

Curses, I'm at work, I can't watch a game... Tomorrow then

They reveal a lot of stuff

Although (spoilers) the rebel player flubs HARD with the Y so we don't get to see it in action :(

Still the game ends up being very tense and close

In the team covenant demo. When you have a lock, you can reroll one die, but can't spend your lock.
