Don't be hasty though. The new movies have left them with precious little by way of new ships to work with. That could be part of why the decided to go with 2.0 now - they can take a break from developing new ships for a while until they have re-released all of the old models and Filoni's next cartoon gives them additonal sequel-era ships to work with.
OR - if they are going to continue new ships in the near term, they are almost certainly going to have to pull from the Prequel/Clone Wars era.
Of course - I do expect a THIRD YT1300 model sometime around Christmas.

What guy where? If anything, 2.0 shows that they might be thinking about moving in that direction. Force abilities and droid specific pilot abilities are now a thing. Those would be key mechanics for helping the Republic and CIS establish themselves as factions, and will mostly be wasted on the factions we have now. I'm hoping in the next year or so we'll see more Clone Wars ships.
