warrior w/ poisoned dagger

By darthmax1, in Talisman Rules Questions

if the warrior has the poisoned dagger, is he able to use its ability to reroll after a one ,while using two dice for combat? they way i read it, you "may", means you have a choice of whether or not you use the ability to roll two dice in combat. but, if you choose to use it, you must accept the higher roll, thus keeping you from using the daggers ability. you would have to choose to roll one die. someone in our game group says you have a choice of using the ability of rolling two dice and then choosing whether or not to take the higher roll. seems pretty dang clear to me, but ive been wrong before.

You may choose whether or not you roll two dice, but once rolled you have to use the higher result to determine the attack score. The Warrior's ability is written this way.

Unless you roll a double 1, the Warrior is not able to use the Poisoned Dagger effect that's activated when you roll a 1 for attack.

thanks, thats exactly what i thought. my buddy thinks that the word "may", at the beginning of warriors description, applies to both parts of his ability. But it applies to the WHOLE ability .
