Somehow I can only imagine somebody from FFG working on the fourms would be equivalent to Sara Huckabee Sanders.

You're probably in for a large pile of BS with any inkling of truth you'd get. Kinda like somebody who'd be required to talk, but couldn't say anything anyways.

Well I don't drink...also I like Starwars...and I've got an endless pile of miles.

I do that all the time. I got too secret military clearance and a lot of my work in the civilian sector is all trade secret kind of stuff.

For FFG it’s all about setting a schedule and keeping people engaged. I’d probably tap involved fans to produce content like articles to keep visibility of games. ****, is Rune Wars still a thing?

Oh homie that is marketing 101, if you go silent on a product you give the consumer the distinct impression it's dead.

Yet these guys like to let us think it's dead, then roll down to Jeffrey Combs's crib...get a bit of the ole green and then pump life back into the veins of the corpse we call Armada.

It’s totally marketing 101. They don’t need to go beyond that. The game practically sells itself.

I was mostly poking fun at them because I applied to do marketing for FFG years ago and wasn’t even looked at. Not sure who they employed, but it doesn’t seem to be working out because a lot of goodwill is disappearing for them.

Oh bud they didn't hire anyone, they more than likely farmed it out to some poor kid who eats Ramen in a cage in North Korea.

Probably.

This is the thing right? If they put any effort post (other than OP) I think their market share would show a tremendous increase.

I’m pretty sure they could stop doing ships and focus on box sets for campaigns and such and they’d sell well. Every time we run a Corellian Conflict we get a couple new players.

With this “cult of new” people are hesitant to buy into stuff that is called dead.

They could do a scum faction, the elitists would biatch, but the game would just take off....

They did a scum faction, and pushed it hard, and it did take off. They cut the medium and large bases out along the way though, so it's @Blail Blerg 's worst nightmare. Squadrons, squadrons, everywhere.

wot?

In attempt to be coy about their planned X-Wing 2.0 announcement, FFG managed to create high expectations and rumor generating for their other Star Wars games. If they came out point blank and said it was going to be an X-Wing announcement exclusively, everyone would have figured it out that it would be a 2.0 announcement as was expected taking away their "surprise" and hype. Instead we get multiple Star Wars game communities (Armada, Imperial Assault, Legion, Star Wars LCG players who wanted a co-op game announcement) extremely disappointed because of pure speculation and rumor miling that we all continue to fall for. I don't know who to blame more FFG or ourselves.

Solution: give a "State of the game" about IA, Destiny, and Armada.
For example, for Armada: "We're really happy with the recent changes. It's been really good for the game, and we think that things are in a much healthier place. We plan on continuing to watch throughout worlds and addressing any other issues that come up as being way off balance. You can expect a teaser article in the next two months for the next wave and another non-wave expansion announcement about 3 months after that. More details will follow in the next two weeks. On to the real focus of this announcement ... " (others may be similarly stated).

This way you can focus on the big thing while still making it about the broader Star Wars things overall - fulfilling expectations while still steering focus where you really want.

In this case, sadly, FFG is more to blame. I'm almost always in their corner. We typically want too much. However, this was a real bait and switch.

Yeah, in this variant nearly 100% of the top lists are squadrons. They kept the Raider, the CR90 and flotillas, but that's it. It's like a whole different game.

Maybe if they had some one read the forums occasionally this could have been avoided.

I'm actually willing to bet that employees do frequent the forums, but I'm also willing to bet is that the relatively low-ranked employees who do frequent the forums try to communicate things going on in the zeitgeist here to the higher-up decision makers down-play it or the message gets lost somewhere along the way.

same goes for the twitter account. I've tried engaging with FFG's twitter, but I've gotten a empty "We'll get back to you" nearly every time. (Spoilers: they didn't get back to me)

That’s usually the job of a social media person. They get a list of things they can and can’t say. Then if they have to stomp out bigger things like, say, what they mean by “something big is coming” they get ahold of their boss for official statement.

I'll take that bet. If Syops had been reading the forum then I would have only got 1 of my 3 bans. The other 2 made zero sense to be punished in context, in isolation more understandable.

bright side, with the insane money they're going to make from selling those conversion kits they'll likely be able to afford a community manager...for x-wing.

Bump.

We need this more than ever.

I have a feeling this thread will always be relevant.

at least we have confirmation that @ffgjosh and bloody mary are not in fact the same entity.
