Doesn't Saw's pack also contain medium bases for the U-Wing? Might be nice just to get that a little earlier than waiting for 2.0. I dunno, I'm grasping here
So Where Does This Leave Saw's Partisans?
I'm not, but only because I'm getting out of Rebels.
And putting aside unique pilots and crew seems to miss the point a bit. The dial and pivot wing and whatnot will undoubtedly be the same, but there will be content in it that's not in the conversion kits. I don't know how you're fixating on the stuff that will be the same, and not the stuff that will be different.
How can the conversion kits make it unnecessary, when the content in it will not be in the kit?
I am on the fence right now. But.... nothing will get me off that fence faster than a K2-SO spoiler.

If you're going to get the Conversion kit you might be better off. The old U-wing on its own will not be usable in 2nd while Saw's is a hybrid 1st/2nd expansion. A core and Saw's alone will give you three Rebel ships ready to go and they'll likely fill out an entire list.
I will be getting the conversion kit as I already have an extensive collection. The kit includes the U wing and hopefully a medium base too.
I suppose the saw pack does come with a t65 but again.. im not a massive fan of the colours.
It is up to me to decide as I can either go
Conversion pack + old u wing + new core set
or
Conversion pack + saws expansion
May end up getting the new core set as it seems that this is the only way to get the new damage deck and more importantly the new maneuver templates, which seem vital for barrel rolling.

Because - as posted upthread - I was interested in Saw's Partisans not for the black and white paint scheme, new pilots and crew, but for the X-Wing and U-Wing fixes. Which - as we've seen - are being rolled into the new 2nd edition X-Wing and U-Wing cards as standard.
