So Where Does This Leave Saw's Partisans?

By FTS Gecko, in X-Wing

I know FFG has said there'll be 2nd edition content in the two new expansions, but, as a lot of the hype for this pack was to fix the existing X-Wing pilots...

...why not just wait for the Conversion kit instead?

Apparently the 2nd Ed and conversion kits are out in September..? Saw's will likely be out sooner.

Because this expansion has both stuff for 1st and 2nd edition. FFG said that those are 'hybrid expansions" and will continue to be relased for some time. The stuff from this xpac will not be in your conversion kit.

SawsPatrisans is it's own conversion kit:

Reaper and Saw both contain all their 2e components.

Methinks none of you guys actually bothered to read the opening post, just the headline. Understandable given the current forum feeding frenzy, I suppose.

As I was planning to use the contents of Saw's Partisans with Wedge, Wes, Luke, Rookies etc, it's now gone from a day one multi-purchase to a wait-for-2nd-edition affair.

I'd agree. unless there are cards specifically I want in Saw's renegades...I'm probably waiting. You'd buy it for the new pilots, not the fix.

I mean, I'd like to buy it for the paint schemes.

You get an X-wing with flappy wings and the new dial yes? At least one but not two now.

so does that mean the pivot wing is different in the conversion kit?

edit: looks like it...which would fall under 'cards I specifically want' maybe

I went from wanting to buy 3 to dropping down to 2. Maybe even 1...

I also dropped my plans of buying a Tie Punnisher (for now)... chances are I will be buying the new core (because I think you have to), and two of the rebel conversion. the rest will have to wait.

I think I'm getting a Reaper, since it's an actually new ship, but I'm kinda thinking I won't bother with Saw's at all, or at least not until well after the 2.0 release and I know if there's anything really essential for 2.0 in there. The 1.0 stuff won't be in that many more tournaments (and I can probably borrow stuff), and I can just proxy otherwise. I already have 5 X-Wings and 2 U-Wings...

Was lukewarm on bying Saws from the start, have 2 U-wings, and 6 x-wings. Dont lkke the new paintscheme in Saws and was ONLY buying it for the cards. So now I just need to wait right?

I can see maybe waiting on Saw's Renegades, but I expect if this is an earlier release a whole lot of us will be tempted to get a first-hand look at the new stuff. Definitely just one though instead of the two I thought I needed.

Pilots and upgrades? Not sure what 2.0 upgrades might be here of interest.

But, yeah, it's the "first" 2.0 retail release (although also 1.0), so I wouldn't expect anything in here to be in the conversion kits. DEFINITELY not the pilots, anyway.

It’s important because there will be a while before 2.0 hits and this is the perfect way to finish off the 1st edition of the game.

Don't Saw's Renegades live in the cave they always have?

Leave them where? ;)

We don't know yet.

The 2.0 version is totally different - it flips on activation, instead of after the manoeuvre, and offers 90 and 180 spins.

The 1.0 version may be the same, or may be different. We'll know for sure fairly soon.

I preorded saws expansion but now I'm really not so sure. I don't like the paint scheme at all so am I better off by buying the normal U wing and maybe the new core set later on?

yeah, it'll be interesting to see how many new upgrades for 2.0 are in this pack. But again, the article implies that the pivot wing in Saw's is different than the 'base' pivot wing. but we know how precise FFG articles are, so that may not hold true.

True. However, the Conversion Kit comes with U-Wing tokens, upgrades and pilots as well. So - unless you're planning on sticking with 1st edition or really like the Partisan pilots and scheme - wouldn't it make sense to wait for the Conversion kit and see if there's any overlap/redundancies?

We already know that the content from Saw and the Reaper isn't in the conversion kits.

Yes, but we don't know what content there will be for the X-Wing and U-Wing in the conversion kits, and whether it will render the contents of Saw's Partisans (unique pilots and crew aside) unneccesary.

By all means, go ahead and buy it if you want. I'm going to wait.
