“Keep playing Epic and stay tuned for second edition.” So that’s 2 years away... ?
Edited by SasajakStay tuned for Epic Second Edition
Any information if they are included in the conversion pack or is there going to be special conversion pack for epic?
I look up and haven't found anything for epic play, I guess will get a special conversion pack, or perhaps it will be considered when x-wing 3.0 comes out lol.
They mentioned that Epic will return in v2.0 some time after the September release, that is all.
Now one thing I definitely want for epic is something like Legion's table setup: different areas to deploy in, different objectives, killing everything not the only way to win.
Right now epic is a clusterfrack of ships trying to get the most attacks in before getting killed with very little room to maneuver at all (my last match was against 8 Z95, 2 VCX, 1 Transport, 2 UWings... I forget if there was another thing) and missile spam + high hull+shield on high attack ships - No place to maneuver around that much, not much hope to do anything at all.
Legion's table setup allows for so many vastly different games with the same exact teams against one another. Epic needs something like that but not exactly like it.
So happy that they won’t be forgetting about us. I was worried epic ships wouldn’t get posted over and we’d just have unplayable giants.
Maybe 2.0 will be the time I finally get my dad hooked on epic.

I take it they are not in the conversion pack, from what they said on the stream. So, like First Order/Resistance, looks like they’ll have their own conversion pack(s). @heychadwick mentioned in another thread that he’d heard they will be integrated into standard play for second edition. Which would be very nice for us huge ship lovers ?
I guess we can call 1st edition Epic Edition then.
I don't recall where I heard it, but I've been reading so much different information the past day. I heard they're going to roll Epic into the main game.
There are no bitzer dials for epic in the conversion kits. It's quite possible that they don't need to change those. If they're going with the same templates and dials it can work. They just need to revamp the rules for it.
It's been my message for a while that the epic ships need more actions.
I am hoping for three epic conversion boxes, that converts one t65, one gr75, one cr90 for the rebels, imps get one that converts two tie fighters, one advanced, one gozanti, and one raider, and scum get a croc and Scyk conversion
Doubt there will be epic conversion kits.
According to their FAQ their will be:

Just open the FAQ, there are several good things in there.

@heychadwick said it so it is unconfirmed fact! Huge ships in standard play mode would be awesome!
I could see Epic being a Corellian COnflict style conversion pack. Epic ship cards, tokens and templates, plus campaigns, scenarios, stratagems etc

That'd be just grand

Nah, call it "Legends".

If this is the case, I'm all in. Right now, I'll just convert any 2.0 models I like into 1st Ed. via home-brewing. I'm not spending ~$400 on conversion kits when that money can be used to buy models. I don't play competitively, so all I need are the models and my imagination.
Brand new to x-wing. I would totally have waited if I'd seen this coming. I just bought a good few things last month. I feel like TFA core pack is wasted cash for me as the set is for me and the misses and we will probably only use imp and rebels.
However I bought 2 mats and I'm disappointed I won't be looking at getting epic stuff now until later announcements are made on that. Surely the old epic ships won't go to waste. If they don't offer upgrade paths they ships will lie on the shelf as people like me don't buy them. Looks like they may do something to make it more mainstream though.
They could make Epic ships legal obstacles. Provided they don't give an advantage to the player that uses them or disrupt the tournament setting too much. Overlapping huge ships was a real big disruption in compassion to the cardboard tokens

I wish this was true but if it were then epic could have been included in the conversion kits given we are really only taking about 5 big ships + a handful of additional small ones.
It's more likely epic will be segregated into a seperate release of some kind and kept seperate as it's own thing. I'd bet there will probably be a epic wave with the conversion kit alongside at least 1 additional ship (for scum), maybe a new one for each faction? Probably after the first year of catching up on all the small ships.
Edited by VeneficusAnyone else see this in the info from yesterday?
They are readdressing how epic works in 2.0, they want to give it the same amount of love and refinement they have what they have for standard. Mentioned possibly reworking energy or how it works to make it feel more right or more refined. I'd guess we won't be seeing epic 2 .0 for a year or more while they do that.

Yes. Sounds promising. We shall see.
In the meantime, I am gonna play with as many of my ships as I can every chance I can.
Here' a quick thought,
If epic 2.0 is further down the road, will new 2.0 waves still have 1.0 cards included so they can be used it epic?
I would hope they continue to support 1.0 for at least a few waves to make a transition period.
And you only need a few extra cards in the pack, the new waves coming up will support both, so why not continue this for a few waves after 2.0?

I think FFG are going to be very busy replacing all 1.0 products with 2.0 and new waves will be quite limited just to keep up with new stuff... like the Solo movie. So maybe we’ll get another hybrid wave, like wave 14, as 2.0 won’t be out by the release of Solo. I wouldn’t imagine any more than that even if Epic hasn’t got its conversion kit.

I doubt it. They are more likely going to go all-in on 2.0 and the epic fun is going to wait while they get that cranked out.
I am 99% positive that all “new to 2.0” ships will only have 2.0 materials in it. They want to migrate over, not keep both running indefinitely (add to that production costs go up for 1.0+2.0 support in the same box).
Most likely, we are going to at least see an epic conversion in the sense that all the hard points and “huge ship only” cards will need to move to the new points system (same for the ship cards). Dial conversion is an unknown. They may keep it the same and it wouldn’t even be bad. Focus on point costs, hardpoint and cargo options, and keeping it relevant in the same power curve they’ve created with 2.0 standard.

I highly doubt they will spend the energy on that.
Best midterm strategy: play 1.0 cards with the (presumably) improved 2.0 dials.
I'm not sure about how I feel about Huges getting into standard.
Plus side: more Huge ships.
Down side: we lose meta free epic.
