idk, I've seen Krassis, Thane, Jake

not sure who's EU and who isn't, but I know Krassis and Jake have been around LONG before Disney

Some parts of the EU were adopted by Disney and lots of characters are nobodies with zero impact on the overall storyline. I'd be shocked if someone like corran horn made it into second edition.

I watched the Hyperspace report on twitch and a couple of things people are missing is that the game will be going to a 200pt game, and the app will tally up the points costs for upgrades and ships. They also said that they will be posting a pdf file with all the points costs for those who don't have regular access to the interwebs. People seem to be thinking they can just port lists from 1.0 to 2.0 and just new cardboard, but with the fact that they don't have VI or PtL anymore, it's not going to be that simple.

Take away: stop freaking and see how things pan out before you start worrying about jumping ship.

The only thing I am looking at is the cost increase from $15 to $20. That is nuts.

they've confirmed the E-wing so presumably, theres no cannon pilots (or ewing) for them to use

Not only that but there are a bunch of new EU characters I don't recognise, but who are presumably either original to FFG or Legends associated.

Are the models better? With the exception of the S-Foils on the X-Wing everything else looks the same to me - and most likely is the same otherwise FFG would have highlighted the "betterness" like they did with the T65.

The box is simply what the things I play with comes in. I don't play with the box.

This was just the opportune time to massively increase the cost of the game without people caring too much.

absolutely, objectively better. Larger, crisper, far better definition. It is, however, the same thing you're getting in Saw's (different paint scheme aside)

also bigger box - more things that can come in the box. it's the law of physical dimensions, or something. Let's call it "common sense"

Also they said the fang fighter/protectorate wings spin as they should.

So basically, I'm probably going to be stuck buying two of each of these. Game needs a 2nd edition, but still. Some of the quantities are weird to me, like 3x Inquisitor's TIE, but 2x Advanced. 3x Quadjumper, but 2x Starviper.

Rebel Alliance Conversion Kit

3 – A-wing
2 – ARC-170
2 – Auzituck Gunship
2 – B-wing
2 – E-wing
2 – Ghost

2 – Phantom II
2 – Sabine’s TIE Fighter
2 – U-wing
2 – X-wing
2 – Y-wing
2 – YT-2400
4 – Z-95 Headhunter

Galactic Empire Conversion Kit

2 – Alpha -class Star Wing
3 – Inquisitor’s TIE
2 – Lambda -class Shuttle
2 – TIE Advanced
3 – TIE Aggressor
3 – TIE Bomber
2 – TIE Defender
4 – TIE Fighter
3 – TIE Interceptor
2 – TIE Phantom
2 – TIE Punisher
3 – TIE Striker
3 – VT-49 Decimator

Scum and Villainy Conversion Kit

2 – Hound’s Tooth
2 – HWK-290
2 – IG-2000
3 – Kihraxz Fighter
2 – Kimogila Fighter
4 – M3-A Interceptor
2 – Mist Hunter
3 – Protectorate Starfighter
2 – Punishing One
3 – Quadjumper
2 – Scurrg H-6 Bomber
2 – Shadow Caster
2 – Slave I
2 – StarViper
2 – Y-wing
4 – Z-95 Headhunter

I still can't grasp how anybody could think supporting 3 Decimators and only 4 TIE/LN would be a good idea.
(Yeah I know money blah blah...)

I have to buy two of them nevertheless for my GUNBOATS. Or maybe better: Trade them with a guy who doens't like this goddess of a ship.

They won't.
FFG has been stated to be the only company allowed to release new EU content. And knowing that there are many EU fanboys working there I'd be surprised if there will be no further EU characters added into the game.
I'm really hoping for it! :D

so in order to make your current ships "legal"... it will cost you $150.... how anyone can say this is a good thing is beyond me.

$300, actually. Resistance and First Order are now separate. “And you will need a core”- mark brook

I’m sorry, that new sculpt is laughably bad. (Paint is better though).

?

You know the new one is on the right, right?

It's miles better than the old one.

I'll add one:

  • NO 4-BANK!

C'mon, FFG, this was the one time you could have added that to the game. I mean, granted, yeah, the dials are already getting a bit busy - but it'd have been a nice option to have to expand design space some.

Amazingly better model.

Million dollar question, though - did they update it to accurately reflect the Gold Squadron Pilot artwork?

Yeah, I don't think so.

Casual players usually have a few ships only, so they really won't be bothered by paying 50 bucks to have their favorite ships be playable again.

I'm casual and would need 7 conversion kits to keep all my ships playable. I won't be shelling out $350 for that. I'd rather eBay my stuff and move on. I think casual drive this game from a sales perspective more than people realize.

But few rebel characters are gonna have 3 force powers, whereas Vader definitely will, and palp will increase force capability, and the inquisitor I don’t see going lower than 2, which will probably be the highest any rebels go

Luke regens one of his every time he's attacked, unless he's at capacity. It's quite fair to assume that Vader might be able to regen them as well, but if so, then having 3 doesn't seem like a big advantage over having 2; they're all virtually limitless.

So then you're back to the question of how many ships with Force charges you can bring to the table at once.

And, while not technically Rebel, can as well as rest assured that Rey will have 3.

Glad we can talk about where Scum fits in, other than Asajj and Maul are there any?

I'm not buying that. I've got close to 4K in ships and only play casual and I'm not the only one in my area with a crap-ton of ships that do not compete.

Would you prefer to the buy them? That’s de more evil.

Good evening, I just want to comment that I am Spanish, and that the reaction of many people here to know the news and the prices of the new xwing has been very fast and simple, many people are already selling their collections before they fall in price. A pity, I will do the same with a part of my fleet.

I'll just keep a part as a Star Wars lover and for some casual game from month to month.

Edited by nogarder

There’s a lot of talk about people selling their collections but here’s the thing; if people are selling then people are buying. Blood in, blood out. Every collection sold is still a player with spaceships. Do what’s right for you but selling collections is no measure of how healthy things are/will be in 6 months.

Now I’m going to sell my Armada collection to fund my x-wing 2.0 purchasing :)

Considering that the baseline 15 bucks for a standard blister small ship has not changed since the game began, inflation alone would have added a bit over a dollar to the cost of the ship. So FFGs profit margin has been on a steady decline for 5 years by keeping the cost of the product unchanged. Now add in the extra items your getting in the pack along with the cost of making the model more complex with moving parts (kind of a lame change...most of us are here to fly ships around, not play with tiny fiddly wings that open and close) and upgraded scupts....20 bucks is still pretty reasonable. Especially if FFG intends to keep the price point fixed for the next 5+ years.

Note the price of the core set is not going up and at some point all the old players will have their conversion kits and the production and sales of that item will start to reduce...coming to an end at some point likely with some amount of product unsalable since new players will have no use for it.
