Pure Disappointment...

Well, would it help Armada's cause if we would all invest in X-Wing as well?

Obviously get @cynanbloodbane 's permission first (and/or Cynan tell me to get on KDY for the first time in a while), but how much did he get?

40 or so ships or Squadron sets.

Seriously @cynanbloodbane - you need to show of your collection sometime.

Almost done with the mining guild, and the CSA, then I will post pictures.

Mercenaries and Pirates need alot of squadrons painted, but the ships are almost done.

Hapes Consortium is still very much a WIP

CIS has a good start, but I am waiting for the Lucrehulk control ship and the Providence Destroyer from my current order. To finish them off I need to convince Mel to make the droid Cargo ship and most importantly the Subjegator class to complete my CIS Remnant fleet.

Are there folks getting warnings in these threads? I've been pretty vocally against all they stand for and haven't seen a thing. Just curious....

Syops only works Thursdays so if there are any they will be delayed. Cause you know, moderation is a 1 day in 7 job.

@Ginkapo has a close personal relationship with the moderator, formed over repeatedly being banned

If you need help painting squads, I know a guy who does it cheap...

To be frank, this X-Wing reboot is quite concerning to me. Not because I play X-Wing or have any affiliation with the game whatsoever. It concerns me for the sake of Armada.

Personally I would hate to see Armada 2.0, as I have already invested a lot of money into this game on a very limited budget. To flip it all and force me to buy conversion kits and so on in order to keep playing upsets me.

That's just my opinion.

The difference, I hope, is that X-Wing was a pretty broken game overall. Lots of ships and upgrades weren't competitive, while you had things like turrets that just plain weren't fun because they took the maneuver out of the game. This wasn't a cash grab but a way to fix many of the problems that had become hard-wired in X-Wing (one of those being that the namesake ship isn't competitive at all).

Armada, on the other hand, is--in my opinion--in a great place. Nothing is overpowered. There are lots of ways to build a strong list. Personally, I think Armada is in a great place--hence, there is no need for an Armada 2.0.

There will be a day that i want armada 2.0, that days not today. But xwing has 2 years on armada and with their accelerated release schedule thats 364 years in armada releases.

This whole debacle has at least resulted in something big for me: it's the first time I have ever used my full allocation of 'reactions'.

I came over from the IA boards to see how you guys felt about that "announcement". I used to absolutely love Armada (but I'm a few waves behind now), so I can only imagine the lack up updates has been as frustrating as the IA news had been lately.

But yeah, its completely baffling how FFG think this is good marketing. They used very general language in the lead up that suggested news across many ranges.

What the **** have their marketing department been smoking?!!

I'm totally with you, and I think that IA is getting just as big a shaft if not more so. After Armada, IA was my favorite game, but I feel they got kicked in the jimmy with Legion.

It was a bit, (and kind of typical as I jumped ship from Armada to IA last year) I understand they wanted to put the spotlight on its new baby (Legion), but yeah, the marketing announcements (bar Legion stuff) have been really spotty and poorly organised/telegraphed.

Its nice we (IA) finally had some news a few weeks ago, but even then, before that, the accidental "leak" in the worlds article that pointed to what might be coming (rebels IA stuff) was quickly swept under the rug, and now this Hyperspace Report where it very much implied we would get news for all of our respective games, turns out to just be an xwing announcement?

Whoever is in charge of FFG PR is clearly drunk at the wheel!

Edit: its also a real shame to see Armada now be treated to "radio silence" as well

Edited by 54NCH32

Radio Silance is FFGs standard operating procedure, unless you are X-Wing or Legion. I actually expect even less communication for Armada and AI now that they have 2 new* products they are pushing. I guess all the hope and positivity that came around in January when we had a flurry of articles is officially dead.

It is baffling that a successful company can stink this bad a PR.

Ha! true. Just seems to be especially poorly handled in the last 6 months or so

I mean, it took GW decades and demolishing their original IP line (WHF) to figure out that they were a gaming company and that playing to the base was helpful. They finally did something right with 8th ed 40k. We shall see how long it lasts.

FFG DEFINITELY has a problem with PR right now and they need to fix it.

If patience with FFG results in a continuation of well thought out elements for Armada that require minimal tweaking with errata as opposed to a plethora of material that results in the need for an entire updated edition requiring the purchase of cardboard sets then they can tell me a week before a new Armada wave hits stores and I’ll say “thank you.”

I totally agree with this, and have no problem with patience, but to completely ignore any news and hint at “something big” for months is moronic and frustrating.

FFG's PR skills are truly horrible! Every once in a while I go check out the Firestorm Armada forums. Just to compare apples to apples. They actually have Staff accounts so the PR department can interact with the fan base, without making promises the can't keep.

"This is where we are at. Currently working on evaluation of molds, and upgrades to our production ability. We hope to be able to announce a more comprehensive production plan at the end of May" not an exact quote, but the basic gist of 4-5 posts in one thread alone, over the last month.

Not only is it more information than we get, it is also delivered on a more personal level. It is that level of personal interaction that truly sets the really good game companies above the rest. Of course, with the obviously pathetic skill level of the FFG PR department, I can understand why they don't want them interacting with the fan base any more than needed.

Yep, this. The issue isn't a lack of patience. Its the poor communication / slightly misleading way FFG portrayed what this Hyperspace Report would entail.

It was a tactic to build hype, but if anything, it seems to have been quite poorly received (even by the x-wing guys, who basically found out they have to buy a bunch of expensive conversion kits.)

I wouldn't be too worried about conversion kits for Armada when/if the time comes. I don't see them changing the movement, adding die, or ranges. Maybe retrofit packs, but nothing to replace the current cardboard. Or if they do add die maybe it's a greenish-black die but only on anti-squad batteries and it's close range 4 hits 4 ACCs. Just wishful thinking.

My idea of an Armada conversion kit is three sheets of 100 black stickers each, that go over the point costs of the ship/upgrade cards in the lower right hand corner. Bam, Armada 1.5 with 'converted' point values for everything, calculated and adjusted via the app.

I think you'd see Slaved Turrets come down to 5 points, Leia, Tarkin scaled down a little, maybe 34 points. Mareek up to 24, just little adjustments here and there to make more sense. They cant do that right now and it probably limits design.
