Pure Disappointment...

This nails it. X wing has gotten WAY more attention. I've stopped playing it. My minis are in a box in my friends garage. We haven't played in months. I won't play it again until FFG gives Armada the attention it deserves. I'm my mind, that means Wave 8 & 9 articles.

¿ Que?

You've stopped playing X-Wing, because it has gotten more attention? You believe that if you fail to play X-Wing, FFG will realize the error of their ways and give attention to Armada?

I realize you didn't state these causal relationships explicitly, but they're nevertheless strongly implied, and make very little sense.

Dont get to passionate about this game or any others, the admins will clearly wanna ban any passionate posts because "its not friendly towards the community"

Honestly, everyone here is being far friendlier to the Armada community than FFG was with that bait and switch, dog and pony show!

For the life of me I can't figure out who in FFG thought it was a good idea to advertise the event as a showcase of what's going on with all their Star Wars games knowing full well it was only about X-Wing. The non-X-Wing communities are raging out right now. Can you imagine putting down all the money to get there early for the show only to have that blow up in your face? Terrible.

That said, X-Wing 2.0 seems like a very interesting development and likely gives us some idea as to how Armada 2.0 would be implemented when the time comes. Overall, it sounds promising.

Just to add my 2 cents to everyone elses' (that is a buck .32 that FFG won't be getting with this announcement!)

I am mystified how something like this gets past everyone without someone saying, "Hey, don't you think we might be misrepresenting the hyperspace report by labeling it this way? Perhaps we should let people know that this isn't a general report for all of our SW product lines?"

Thus, there are only three explanations. 1) FFG has been infiltrated by GW employees who, rather than trying to undermine it, actually really want FFG to succeed, but are going about their business just as they did at GW OR 2) Someone higher up decided, after the initial information about the report was out and someone brought up the bad optics, that putting in other information would take away from X-Wing 2.0's glory OR 3) Someone high up at FFG decided that getting people into the report who were interested in other lines wouldn't hurt and might bring in more purchases for X-wing (Cost benefit analysis).

In any case, this is an EXTREMELY bad look for FFG not just because they made a hash of publicity, but because they did so on an EPIC scale and seemingly chose to do so knowingly. This suggests willingness to misrepresent themselves rather than accidental.

Wait, wait, wait... that was HALF?

Obviously get @cynanbloodbane 's permission first (and/or Cynan tell me to get on KDY for the first time in a while), but how much did he get?

Did I say I stopped playing because it for more attention? No, I didn't. We simply stopped playing. I didn't say FFG would notice either. What I'm saying, is until they give their games equal attention, I'm not going to buy or play X wing. I'm boycotting it.

Having never played nor intended to play X-wing... I stand with you all the way!

Are there folks getting warnings in these threads? I've been pretty vocally against all they stand for and haven't seen a thing. Just curious....

Seriously @cynanbloodbane - you need to show of your collection sometime.

Boycott you say?

I'm interested in the new XWing for the first time, really. It looks like they have addressed my main complaints with the game. I still have Star Trek Attack Wing on the shelf somewhere...

Me too. I'm shaking my head in disappointment, but suddenly realising this is an opportunity to get into X-Wing. I've always stayed away from X-Wing because I heard the power creep in later expansions was pretty terrible.

To be frank, this X-Wing reboot is quite concerning to me. Not because I play X-Wing or have any affiliation with the game whatsoever. It concerns me for the sake of Armada.

Personally I would hate to see Armada 2.0, as I have already invested a lot of money into this game on a very limited budget. To flip it all and force me to buy conversion kits and so on in order to keep playing upsets me.

That's just my opinion.

At this point I would like to once again mention that the limited number of “reactions” you can use is absolutely moronic. I mean is it really such a crime if I give out too many likes? Will I destabilize the entire servers by tapping on a little star or happy face too many times? Why is this a thing? Why give a tool to the community if they can only use it so many times?

Make 3 new accounts so you can switch out to the next and continue liking stuff ;)

If you see someone called The Banthasnatch running around liking things, it's probably me.

I don't see that happening for Armada. X-Wing was FFG's first real attempt at a game of this scale, and it shows. The game was cracking all over the place, and all the plaster in the world was barely holding it together. FFG had already learned a lot and improved substantially by the time they did Armada - I mean, just look at the difference in the FAQ documents (and keep in mind that the Armada FAQ really does cover most questions, while X-Wing TO's have their own printed-off list of common and critical questions that they need rulings for which aren't in the X-Wing FAQ).

I understand this completely, but I disagree in part.

I think that for a gaming company to survive in the market, they have to generate cashflow. To do this they can do one of a number of things. First, they can continually gain new players, but for this to work, they must increase in players every time period by the amount of the initial or pinnacle of game purchasing or the new players must purchase ALL previous items. Neither of these is truly something to rely on. Second, they can continually make new items. However, over time, this leads to a dilution of the IP and people walking away and an even worse problem. Third, they can do updates that include in the cost a certain amount of "older players tax". This does mean extra cost for older players, but also extends the life of the game.

The last is what FFG has done here. It is what pretty much ALL mini games do because the first two aren't viable. Further, the "older players tax" isn't really a tax because older players got to play for years with old minis.

I know I'll be able to rest easy tonight knowing that Armada will always be first in FFGs hearts when they rank them alphabetically.

Notably, the alphabet is why I can honestly tell people that I graduated first in my class in high school and college.

I think its a great idea executed in one of the most impressive **** show fashions I've seen. Ffg is now on par with gw in their level of incompetence in my mind.

Just adding my worthless opinion here too - that was incredibly disappointing; not just for us Armada fans but for the rest of the Star Wars stable as well. I don't give a flying **** about X-wing and that is all they push? I completely understand that X-wing is their cash cow and they have every right as a business to push it as much as possible but please make it generally known beforehand what you are going to be hyping!

I never entered X-wing because it was not sophisticated enough and I wanted to play a game that had more strategy elements inside. FFG back then was smart enough to develop Armada to bring new comers and also upgrade X-Wing players who were not satisfied by the complexity of their game.

X-wing might be their cash cow but I am sure Armada is making a ton of money for them as well. So their current attitude really needs adjustment as their ignorance of Armada will not bring new players to X-Wing but rather players leave for alternative brands.

Where are you getting 250 to convert all your stuff?

If you own all 3 factions, that's $150. The base set is $40. That's $190. This is all MSRP, and you can get it cheaper other places.

I’ll need more than 1 conversion kit based on my collection. Depending on the cards in it might be able to do 1 of each. And if I go online retailer, it’s about $150 for core and all 3 conversion kits.
