Not a fan from what I have seen. The whole force/magic part is a turn off. Also, it seems more complex already. We don't even know if they fixed issues that are a problem in the game.

Having the force represented in a Star Wars game is a deal breaker for you? I don't know how to respond to that...

Also, we do know that they fixed a LOT of issues with the game, based on the information released so far. Bombs work differently; everyone drops them before any activations so you know exactly where they are and can avoid them a little better with certain ships. VI and Adaptability are gone. Turrets require an action to rotate and work more like, or exactly like, mobile arcs now.

We don't know if they fixed EVERYTHING that's an issue with the game but we can clearly see that they fixed a lot. I'd bet that when the full release happens we'll learn that Harpoon Missiles and TLT are nowhere to be found as well.

Jeez... how do they handle buying groceries every week. I mean, they’d bought food last week and now they’ve got to buy it again!? The injustice!

Seriously though, hobbies such as this can be expensive. And like I said, no one is being forced to buy anything. You’re perfectly able to proxy or continue to play first ed if you wish. It’s only if you’re into organised play you’ll need to convert.

People are acting as if FFG is holding a blaster to their head and demanding they buy their product.

Wow, denial (or is that stupidity?) is strong with this one.

I won't even comment the first sentence giving how dumb it is.

There is a difference between expensive for a reason (when you buy new ships for instance), and being expensive for like no reason. We're talking about basically 100 / per faction + a corset, if you don't see the problem here I can't do a thing for you. They are clearly being greedy on it, I mean for god sake 50 dollars of cardboard upgrade kit and you can't even do a swarm with it. Half an upgrade kit if not less.

And you're saying they're not holding a blaster against my head? I say they are. Either I comply or I won't be able to play in tournament, with friends that will go in 2.0 (no way they bother maintaining two games at a time if they upgrade), nor enjoy new ships or such. So stop being dumb as **** when you try to lesson people.

But I get it, denial and delusions, you don't nor won't want to understand why people can be angry at FFG. Stay in your delusionnal bubble then.

If conversion packs are unacceptable to people, what's the alternative?

They could have either have been way cheaper or at least COMPLETE for that price, which they are way far from.

When you see two ties / Xs and three decimator or else dial, it's just a joke.

Could it? You're privy to FFG's internal accounts are you? You've no idea if they could do it cheaper. You just want it to be cheaper. Not the same thing.

I would think they've priced it precisely where they think the market will let them; particularly given its a product that eventually will no longer be required as everyone converts and new players start with 2.0 straight off the bat.

But i agree that teh price pojnt on these conversion kits is just too high. 35$ would have been a much better price point.

They are already $39.99 on miniature market. Close enough? ?

It's Imperial 6 TIE's and 2 Rebel TIEs (and thus 8 Dials) and 4 X-Wings if you already have Saw’s Renegades Expansion Pack, a new Core-Set, and one of each conversion packs.

Funny how this exactly converts all but one X-Wings and all TIE Fighter's if you bought exactly one of each expansion. Even more funny how most people coming later to the game skipped on the Wave 1 X-Wing expansion and can convert all of their ships.

Have we seen any stats for the 2.0 falcon yet? Just occurred to me that they might be fixing the irregularity of 2 separate statlines and having the falcon title allow lots of extra mods.

I like a lot of what I’m seeing from 2.0, and I’m optimistic about what this means for the game’s future. It looks like they’ve opened up some interesting design space, and I can see why the ability to adjust squad points via the app is appealing.

Unfortunately I don’t get the chance to play enough as it is, so I’m not sure I can justify the upgrade personally yet. But it’s definitely something I’ll keep an eye on.

So 200 points is the new 100 points. Maybe they hired @MajorJuggler after all!

To be fair the idea was obvious, and Alex said it first years ago. ?

They, uh, certainly didn't hire me.

The only question now is if anyone is interested in me doing a Mod for X-wing 2.0 to fix balance issues right out of the gate. Genuinely curious as to the interest there. The main frustration there is that since they self-admittedly don't know how to do technical point cost balance during design, I would essentially be working for them for free.

I would be interested, but probably not enough to justify you doing all that work.

I can't help but be excited about this announcement, but will balance really be better this time around? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

The work is largely done already anyway. If FFG allows the community can make their own "tweaked" version of the squad builder for their own local events (I think they implied this is possible), then I could be in luck for making the barrier to entry really low. But it probably wouldn't support quite as much optimization as I would like.

I was really hoping for support for campaign style X-Wing. The X-Wing group at my FLGS alternates this kind of play with 6x100 every other week. There seems to be a lot of potential for custom tournament rules in the app, but I don’t see anything to indicate support in campaign direction.

Still, the changes in 2.0 seem overwhelmingly positive, not the least of which is being able to make adjustments in cost to cover inbalances without changing the physical components in the game.

i pre-ordered mine core and conversion kits already, in hopes to get them before the initial printing runs out. It was a decent chunk of change (2 of each), but worth it in relationship to salvaging my existing collection and getting me back to the table.

This looks amazing so far. Can't wait.

Yeah, after reading these reaction all day, I gotta say guys perk up a bit.

-We are finally getting the re balanced and stream-lined X-Wing we have wanted for a long time.

-Regardless of how many ships you have, FFG made conversion packs for us, and i'm sure they did their best to price it well and have the right amount of each of ship according to sales statistics. Also, if you think about how many tokens, ship/pilot cards, and ALL THE UPGRADES we are getting, we are getting everything except new models. I think it will be easily worth the price.

-They won't release anything in the new expansions that isn't in the conversion packs, how can we not appreciate that?

-Finally, WE GET TO FLY OUT BELOVED CLASSIC SHIPS AGAIN!!! I am so pumped to fly TIEs X-wings, Interceptors, etc, like they're brand new ships.

Some of your complaints are well founded, and I feel bad for those of you who have a lot more than one or two of every expansion. But I think FFG are doing their best to re-vitalize this game and do it in the most painless way possible, so please don't be too hard on them.

X-Wing is dead... LONG LIVE X-WING!!!

Cutting to the chase; whole thread and my opinions and feelings of the day summed up...

*boom*

Nailed it.

Yes. This. A MILLION TIMES THIS. I mean, as soon as I saw the Lambda with a REAR FIRE ARC, and knowing that the game now supports ships with different stats for different arcs...

So much yes.

Actually, I have been amazed that the reaction has been so overwhelmingly positive. When I first read the announcement, I was expecting to come here and see nothing but 20 pages of people ******* to high heaven. instead, that has been largely confined to 4-5 specific people and everyone else seems thrilled.

Personally my reservations about cost are largely blown away by the fact that I might actually use most of my **** collection again

2 xs, As, Ys, FOUR Bs, 1 E, 4 TIE/ns, 3 Advance, 3 Bombers, a TIE aggressor, punisher, 2 khirax, 2 vipers, 1 firespray, 4 zs...

All collecting dust

If xwing 2.0 delivers on the promise of a better game, I'll be getting a LOT more than I put in

I am so hyped to try out all my ships again, seriously. I went through all of my ships (well, mentally, they're in storage since I didn't use them) yesterday and was like 'Uuh I can't wait to try that out, I wonder how this will work, will there be a worthwhile Hound's Tooth title...'. When 2.0 comes out I'll go visit a friend who also loves the game and play for a week straight, screw responsibilities!

But, one REALLY IMPORTANT QUESTION: what sleeve size will all those upgrade cards be?

They look rather different from anything I had seen before. Probably some FFG-sleeve size :D Regardless, I really don't like the new size - it's too big

hmmm - the page says the new core set needs Gray and Yellow sleeves, while the expansions need just Gray:

FS01 Mini American 1 5/8 X 2 1/2 IN 41 X 63 MM Yellow
FFS05 Standard Card Game 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 IN 63.5 X 88 MM Gray

How do you know it is "re-balanced and streanlined"? I am quite sceptical that after a year there will be some broken NPE combinations. Good, that they can fix that in the builder quickly.

I think you are mistaken about the "nothing new". For me the line "In addition, the T-65 X-Wing Expansion Pack contains a few entirely new cards that have never before appeared in the game's first edition" line indicates there will be new upgrades not present in the Conversion kit.

In addition, the T-65 X-Wing Expansion Pack contains a few entirely new cards that have never before appeared in the game's first edition. These new cards and associated punchboard are also included in the Rebel Alliance Conversion Kit for the benefit of veteran players!

“Never appeared in the first edition”.

But DO appear in the conversion packs which bring 1st Ed up to 2nd Ed specs.

They say it themselves in the articles that the conversation packs have everything. The line you highlighted means they’ve come up with some new stuff; which will be in the conversion packs too.
