Who also remembers the PC game X-wing Alliance? One of the ships you could fly was the magnificent YT-2000 Otana.
I came across this model on Shapeways by one of my favorite designers Mels Minatures. I decided to test my skills with the airbrush and try to do most of the painting with the airbrush.
I planned to gradually build up the color modulation starting from dark to light and one part of the ship at the time.
After I finished the color modulation, I gave the model a thin layer of satin varnish. That will be my base, for putting on detail colors and washes. The following picture already shows a tiny bit of pin washes, to mark out the individual panels.
I don't like too much dirt and high lights, so I kept that fairly simple.
I love how the model turned out. Now I just need to fly it once in a casual game with one of my friends.
