Building decks that scare away new players

By Makingsenseofus, in UFS Deck Building

So this is the Block 3 deck I've been running for the past 2 months. Its really NPE and has won every local tourny I have played it in (which is only 4). I'm going to retire it for a while so here it is for your viewing pleasure.

Alex***
67 + character
Attacks: 4
4X Ryu’s shin shoryuken
Foundations: 43
4X Chester’s Backing
4X Blood Runs True
4X Lesser of many evils
4X Unorthodox Training
4x Saikyo-Ryu
3X Bitter Rivals
4X No Memories
4X Amy’s Assistance
4X White Magic
4X Blinding Rage
4X Makai High Noble
Assets: 12
4X Lynette’s shop
4X Seal Cessation
4X Olcadon’s Mentoring
Actions: 8
4X Tag Along
4X Kung-fu Training

Basically build a grey-green wall, get some white magics out and Shin Shoryuken. It can win with discard or by BRT/KFT shenanigans. I've never decked out because I don't care about the card limit in Alex so 67 cards is fine for me. The deck frequently gets Chesters and No memories out turn one due to there being only 8 bad checks. the dual symbols work well because there are just as many fire foundations as there are all foundations even though the only one that shares both is Bitter Rivals. The Infinity assets are wonderful in this deck for symbol splashing purposes. Also, if I need my kill card, Tag along is the perfect fisher. Never have had a problem with Collecting data b/c of seal, BRT and KFT. This deck represents all that is horribly wrong in UFS and I can't help but hate myself for playing it. Its even been consistantly beating a block 2 zi mei deck with all of the fixin's. I sincerly hope the 2008 STOG helps get the game back on track because BRT is really what has made many aggro decks obsolete by taking away their finisher. Sorry just had to rant a little on how unlike fighting games competitive play has gotten. This deck kinda represents that.

Nice build. 8 bad checks aren't bad. I can get away with 10 2CCs in a deck, but man do they hurt when you check them.

Looks very similar to one Shaneth posted, which used Tiger Fury and was more All focused.

Actually, maybe Tiger Fury is a better option in my opinion since it should be a little bit faster as you can drop like 4 foundations a turn, while each White Magic gives a momentum a turn (of course, if you drop more than 1 White Magic early in the game then it would be faster). Tiger checks better but can't be chained with Tag Along.

I'm not sure about using both Makai High Noble and Blinding Rage, I like the second the best to battle Olcadan's, but this way you can get at least one faster.

I would use 4 bitter rivals, specially since it's the only foundation with both fire and all, and can help when/if they attack you. I agree the current way block3 looks is quite boring, without enough incentive to attacking.

I've actually found Tiger Fury to be a bit slower because of the 4 base damage. I'm using both Blinding and Makai mainly because when it gets to late game and if I havent cycled Blinding rage does nothing, but early game, sure, I'll let you blow up chesters backing. This deck was actually built when Shaneth posted his version, and I thought about posting until I realized there were already 3 other Alex decks on the forums. and I wanted to wait until I got it just right.

you might try clones. this is sorta similar to my akuma deck (cept only 4 bad checks) the only thing this deck has to worry about is contemplation. my akuma deck single handedly resurected mill in my area.

Our area is primarily block 3 so I really don't have to worry about contemplation.

your lucky. i can't tell you how anoying it was to be turn 2d by contemplation every other game.
