Fickle had a terrible thought (re TIE Reaper preview)

By ficklegreendice, in X-Wing

FFG didn't show the reference card for the Jam action...what if it's for a sinister reason?

What if they're keeping it from us because they want you to preorder Reapers?

What if they're hiding the fact that the jam action chooses a ship at range 1-2, ROLLS A RED DIE, and only jams on a HIT or CRIT?

What if the ISB slicers don't specify "another ship" because they're accounting for the probability that you fail?

After all, they only trigger after performing the Jam action against an enemy ship. You don't actually have to successfully jam anything...

Oh no, it's totally gonna happen :(

I had this thought, but I doubt it. what other action has a random mechanic built in? None besides damage cards. (which I think was a mistake anyway). I guess there's Lando, but that's very thematic and Lando isn't very popular.

...and it only works in your firing arc.

...and you can only target ships with 3 agility or higher that don't have a [bomb] or [illicit] upgrade equipped.

?

Has an action from a direct action bar ever been a 50/50 chance before? We've seen it on upgrades, but never on an action bar. Don't freak out.

Lets pray that if we have to roll a die it isn't a green die eh Fickle?

Never before

But you never know, this is FFG we're talking about

The same company that released the disaterous wave 1 green dice trash-o-mechs and then released r3 astro years later, which was somehow even WORSE

(Oh God it's totally a green die!!!)

Fingers crossed and all

I'd be overjoyed if this is the paranoid warbling that it certainly is. but in case it isn't, at least I'll get an "I told you so" consolation prize ?

Assuming that FFG did ANY testing, I presume that the Jam action will work like the quadjumper's tractor action....

....which means that it won't work like that.

All the more reason to slap Palpatine in there for some guaranteed jams

Since there is no JAM Action reference card in the spread, maybe we can apply it however we want!

There's no card to show, it's a boxed expansion, it'll have a rulebook.

The real mystery is when do we get the FAQ/Errata that Reinforce is a token that can be Jammed, Janson'ed, and Jax'ed?

why would it not be the same jam as from the jamming missile and cannon?

The tokens are the same, what's unclear is how many the action throws out and at what range.

Never

We got that ps 4 guy to "counter" reinforce ? (wookies never focus)

(Assuming guaranteed jam...)

AND ITS A REBEL ONLY ACTION.

Surprise!

It's actually SABINE'S REAPER!

and it's got a masterpiece title that gives it illicit and system slots!

I'm not sure, but I've heard there's some significant X-Wing Swag at the Hyperspace Report tomorrow. That could mean some of the new stuff, so we might see things spoiled by then.

That mechanic is already in the game it's called jamming beam.

jamming beam isn't an action

it actually says ATTACK right there on the card

"The dark side called to you and you went right to it -- didn't even hesitate."

Surely the action's only question is how far away you have to be to be able to trade an action for an action.

Of course, it could be range 1...

Probably going to have to be overlapping the ship you want to jam

...and then only on a hit or CRIT

Hence why they included Tac Off crew... you will need bump with the Reaper, then Co-ord from another ship to Jam the overlapped ship. Then need Palp somewhere to guarantee it was worth it.

?

That makes sense

...too much sense

Almost as if it were intended...
