Trench Run X-Wings

By Reaver027, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Since i sold most of my collection i always wanted to create a decent enough squad to take to tournaments with the few miniatures i have left.

I would not mind buying some upgrade cards to make that work. So when the X-Wing fix was announced i really wanted to make a 3 X-Wing squad work. And since i am a big fan of the OT i wanted this squad to be Luke, Wedge and Biggs.

Here is what i have come up with.

Wedge Antilles (29)
Expertise (4)
Renegade Refit (-2)
Flight-Assist Astromech (1)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Autothrusters (2)

Luke Skywalker (28)
Expertise (4)
Renegade Refit (-2)
R2-D2 (4)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Autothrusters (2)

Biggs Darklighter (25)
Renegade Refit (-2)
R2-D6 (1)
Selflessness (1)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Total: 100

I have not played in quite some time but would like to know if something like this might work. Any suggestions would be great.

If thematic is your only concern then I like this. That said, I personally feel that if you are trying for competitive, the Engine upgrade/Autothrusters is just so expensive compared to going S-Foils/Integrated Astro which also give an increase in mobility and durability for 6 points less, though somewhat more situational.

Make those changes to Wedge and Luke and suddenly you have 12 points to throw in a Z-95 blocker. Or with a few changes you can have Wedge, Luke and two Rookies.

Also, Biggs already has a mechanic to draw fire away from your squad mates. In this squad, selflessness should go on Luke so he can spread the damage and then regen it if they just try to kill Biggs first.

In any case, the fact the you can get those three in there with those upgrades, for that cheap is going to be soooo much fun.

1.) You can just proxy unless you're going to ffg sanctioned Store Championships or higher

2.) What pick said (though I believe Luke needs mods before DTF)

Luke is about the only one I see using EU +thrusters as a budget poe, but even then it's far from optimal as Poe's tech frees up his ept to take him up to ps 10/11

Are a glance, I'd have to imagine people will be better with more Xs than less since they simply don't pack the super-synergy of low+Fenn+whatever. Gotta compensate vwith the Xs strengths, which is cheaper cost, more bodies; more guns

another idea would be to upgrade Biggs to Wes and go really heavy on regen with 3 X-Wings

Wedge Antilles (29)
Expertise (4)
Renegade Refit (-2)
R5-P9 (3)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)
Integrated Astromech (0)

Luke Skywalker (28)
Expertise (4)
Renegade Refit (-2)
R2-D2 (4)
Shield Upgrade (4)
Integrated Astromech (0)

Wes Janson (29)
Predator (3)
Renegade Refit (-2)
"Chopper" (Astromech) (1)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Total: 100

With R2-D2 Luke I'd strongly consider taking S-foils over Integrated Astromech. The added flexibility of repositioning, plus the ability to close your S-foils and 2-bank + boost + regen, is pretty good, and you really don't want to dump R2-D2 anyway unless it is literally the only way to keep the ship on the table.

True i did not think about that. Thanks for the reminder.

What about this?

Wedge

S-Foils

Luke

Biggs

Leaves 3 points leftover. You could put R2-D2 on someone, or R5-P9, or both if you ditched one shield upgrade. I don't like EU/AT on Luke because it's very hard to proc I find, and not worth losing the S-Foils. However, I find FAA is so good on X-Wing Aces for keeping them stress free and with arc, it might just be worth it above some regen. Possibly.
