we all jumped on the hype train frankly. The messaging was bad, and imagine anyone in the room that is sitting there with a WTF look on their face. I would bet 75% of that population is ok with it.
Hype the Hyperspace Report (the Final Day): "Prepare to jump into hyperspace on my mark!"

He works for them.
I wish. Then maybe Armada would get announcements instead of static.

Nice to know we all have a little Saw Gerrera in us all. Very disappointed with ffg but at this point I expected no less than what we got today. Even though I really wanted news it seemed to good to be true and it was.

yup all the reasons to go Rogue

I own almost 2 of everything Armada and wouldn't mind moving to a digital points system. Heck you wouldn't need to "replace" the cards either just include packs of sticker to cover the points in every new expansion.
so what's the "For Idiots" explaination of this new system. I'm not understanding how it works

Use your current plastic.
buy new core set.
buy conversion kit because all cards and cardboard are crap.
reward is a new version that has no points costs or upgrade slots on cards - so all building is fine in the app, and they can change then without having to reprint cards from this pint on.

Basically there's a downloadable app for phones/tablets that has a list builder, just like Fabs or Warlords. Point values are removed/ignored from the cards that come in the core/expansions etc and are only on the app. So that little box on the lower right goes away.
It's purpose is to be able to adjust point values as cards are under/overvalued, buffed/nerfed, without having to re-issue cards or make them obsolete or fix them via a different card. You just adjust the points online and update the app.
Riekeen to expensive at 30 post-nerf? OK, 25 now. Leia and Tarkin overpriced? eh, hows 30, let's see if they get more play! Expanded Launchers 13 points!?!?? What were we thinking?!?! 10, tops. People abusing flotillas? Let's make them 25 points each for rebels and 29 for Imps.- all adjusted without having to hard copy publish anything.
It allows a lot of flexibility.
The Golem Arcana app was also intrinsically tied to that minis game, it would collect data on troops used, win/loss, and all kinds of other data the game designers then used to write the story and lore narrative after every major tournament. (SO if you faction won, you got the whatever relic we were fighting over and a small buff for the next tournament)

This sounds like a generally positive system a I'd be in favour of this for Armada if it let them balance the game more dynamically.
I'm not in favour of having to buy a new core set, though.
Eesh!

The only downside to this system is if the app goes away you got just the models left. But other than that, the app solution is fantastic. And I can't wait for the people complaining about where the game is who don't know what Xwing is.

Hardcopies and PDFs are a thing
I believe the article also had a few other gems.
Upgrade slots are in the app, I think? A step that rather surprises me.
Seasoning of ships and upgrades are going to happen. I would lay petty good odds that a chunk of the converted ships won't be legal off the bat.
In this age of internet accelerated meta cementing, the ability to patch a game on a shorter time frame than production is probably a necessity.
Oh, and upgrades may have different costs depending on the ship.
Basically they are doing a CYA for any balancing they want to do.

or maybe
The ARMADA news is too big to be announced at the same time as Xwing's or Legion's.
It would steal all their thunder. Fonts fail me to express how Big.
Yuge. Yuge and Making Armada Great again.
Build the Hype, and make Xwing pay for it.

I disbelieve.
i believe Armada is an afterthought to FFG, and has been for years.
i believe when we do get something it will be underwhelming, and the whole “Big thing” will turn out to be so much smoke up our collective keisters.
I believe the FFG we have now is not the same company we enjoyed 4 years ago. I guess merging with a bigger company wasn’t the best thing in the world.
I believe trying to guess when we get anything is a pointless endeavor. Armada is not a priority. FFG doesn’t care about keeping us happy because we’re not the cash cow X-Wing is, we’re not the future they’re putting all their eggs in a basket in like Legion; we’re a little side project with a vocal and passionate fan base that brings in enough money to keep it going, but not enough to focus much attention on.

I vote we start a movement. Post a picture of you playing Armada along with a positive comment tagging FFG on twitter along with some catchy ArmadaAid tag. I would even make a twitter for this.
Edited by TallGiraffeSo I just can't force myself to go into the land of salt (X-wing forums).
Please tell me someone dropped the Charlton Heston/Dr Kreeger meeme.
