I'm not sure if he'll bite, but that's certainly a nice resource to have. Thank you! :)

You're welcome. Just remember, some of the species in that source (such as the Chiss, Duros, Gran, Ithorian, Mon Calamari, Sullustan, Falleen, Toydarian) have been superseded by official stats. So always double check which ones have official stats here .

Great! Now I can assault him with other, more easily-incorporated aliens until either he breaks or I run out. :)

Love the optimism Oatcakes. To build off what Tramp was saying there is always the option of playing a

Greedo

Admiral Ackbar

the sullustan who is Lando’s Buddy in Return of the Jedi

or maybe even a “Boba Fett”

roleolaying or playing a Yoda is a task even the most experienced roleolays wouldn’t be able to pull off. Only Frank Oz can do it justice

Yoda is not only a master...he’s the grand master!!!! I think the Yoda from the KoTOr video games was also a grand master?

Well, I don't think this player wants to play "Yoda" himself, just one of his species , but still...

For me?

While they might have a bad time with combat, it can also encourage them to branch out. Unless I am mistake, most if not all of the "non-combat careers" have at least one combat specialization. Whether that will be enough or not will be dependent on them.

Now, with three players, it can be troublesome. However, one being "like Yoda" is a bit vague and wide ranging. That one can easily become a bit more of an adviser and support for the two "faces" of the group. When it comes to combat, he can easily be the melee bodyguard.

Also, until there is a fourth or fifth player, consider letting them acquire an "npc" to help them out.

Is three players one too few? I might be able to convince another friend to join in, if it would help!

Three is plenty. Our game was three players. As already discussed, you just need to scale down combat encounters from published adventures because they assume a party of 4 with at least one combat-oriented character. You can also remove combat encounters entirely, or make them encounters they should be running from- not standing their ground. I try to keep combat interesting by making the goal of the scene something other than attrition of the opposing side: capture of information or an NPC, getting past/around them to get to a destination, etc. As long as there are ways they can get around situations other than combat, a party of three non-combatants is just fine.

Three is fine. Especially if the chemistry at the table is great.

Four is the optimal amount of PCs though IMO. Doesn’t hurt to try and fine one more., but don’t stall the game because of it.

With SoLo coming out later this month there will be a slew of ppl itching to play.
