Imperial 800

I don’t know if it is any good but once I pick up the snowtroopers this is a list I thought I’d try. I may swap which units have which grenades but otherwise this seems like it could be fun. My collection includes the imperial portion of the starter box, 1 stormtroopers expansion, 1 speeder bikes expansion, and soon 2 snowtroopers expansions. I would appreciate any thoughts or feedback!

That looks really fun. Do you think you’ll be too weak against armor if you dropped your grenades on the snow troopers and added a long rang com on one of the bikes?

I gave Vader battle meditation specifically for the bikes. Will it always be needed? Probably not. But I have yet to get a use out of force push or choke. I hate wasting points so I thought I would try battle meditation and made this list with that in mind.

I figured. Does only being able to give one speeder bike a token with battle meditation bother you at all? I only have one bike squad, but I could see how if I was running them as a pair there might be a situation when I would want to give both bikes an order, and mediation only works on one unit.

I’m sure there will come a time when I will really wish I could order both bikes and can’t but in general so far I haven’t had a hard time keeping bikes within range 3 most of the time. I haven’t tried 2 units yet because I just got the second unit but I think it will work.

I'm looking at a similar list (3 stormtroopers / 2 snowtroopers) only I'm eyeing an ATST instead of the two bikes. Personally, I find I get more bang-for-my-buck with the ATST the way that I play.

I might try to sneak the Flametrooper onto your 2nd Snowtrooper unit, even if it means losing one or two of your extra troopers. I think the Flamethrower is really where the Snowtroopers will shine!

I love the AT-ST but I was going for more activations. I could probably find a way to get another flamethrower in there but I’m not sure what to cut. In general when I use heavy weapons I like having an extra trooper to keep the weapon in play longer. I guess I could remove two of the extra troopers though.

At the end of the day, its your list. Just some thoughts I had, based on my playstyle. :)

Building around your idea, I would likely run something like this:

I don't love Battle Meditation, but that could replace the two long-range comms and and free up more grenades. I would be trying not to get Stormtroopers too close, and take advantage of the range with the DLTs. As such, I bulked up the Snowtroopers and gave them the Grenades. Since Flamers have Blast, I used Impact Grenades for Armor piercing.

Honestly, there are so many variations of the same group of units it ultimately comes down to personal playstyle. Just some things to think about. Hope that is somewhat helpful!

That is a pretty solid list. The comms certainly remove any restrictions for the bikes. Having two fully upgraded flamethrower units with impact grenades does sound scary. Snowtroopers seem like ideal units for them too since they have steady. I’m tempted to try this but afraid of what will happen to my stormtroopers if something gets close and they have no grenades (since white dice are awful)

If things get too close to your stormtroopers, just move into melee!

That is so amazingly simple that I overlooked it entirely!

Well, the rules state that a unit with no melee weapons cannot engage in melee.

Is the melee attack of stormtroopers, called "unarmed", a melee weapon? If it isn't, then does that mean they can only fight in melee if they have been attacked first?

Unarmed is the stormtroopers melee weapon. But speeder bikes for example have nothing in the melee section of their card so they have no melee weapon. I realize bikes can’t engage anyway, it was just the only thing I could think of off the top of my head that has no melee weapon.

This is the correct interpretation
