Cybernetic implant cap

By Qbcker, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi!

I wanted to know if anyone as ever wondered about the meaning of this sentence in the droid description: Droids have a cybernetic implant cap of 6 instead of their Brawn rating.

At first, I thought that only droids could get as high as 6 in Brawn, but it seems that, through dedication, any character can.

So, I wonder how do you guys apply this rule.

There is a category of items called "cybernetic implants" - stuff like bionic arms and so on. Of those, you can have as many as you have Brawn, unless you're a droid. Droids can always have 6 implants.

I found it.

Thanks to you

A beefy gank could have I think up to 9 implants (before a biofeedback regulator needed to be installed)

Lords of Nal Hutta pg. 95, they can have up to Brawn + 3 instead of just Brawn.

Like I said a "beefy" (a.k.a. high brawn) gank can have UP TO (as in it depends on brawn) 9 before... but with a brawn in creasing arm or pair of legs it would let them get up to 10, hence the "I think" because something was nagging me about the 9 number.

Ganks also make great pilots (because of agility increasing cybernetic arm and avionics interface) means they can have a 6 yellow 1 green piloting pull if they max out agility and piloting. If the were a racer (with enhance piloting upgrade) operator squadron leader they'd pretty much be unstoppable in starship combat (fly a lancer and replace the hull using the rules in fully operational)

And that is before the 4 ranks of More Machine than Man from Cyber Tech specialization.

I don't think increasing brawn via cyber increases things like the cyber limit. I know they are how you can get to Brawn 7. But natural brawn and therefore cyber limit would be from a cap of 6.

Rules as Written simply say "Brawn rating", with no exception given for Brawn being raised by cybernetics. +1 Brawn from cybernetics would raise the cybernetics cap. It's up to the GM if they think this is Rules as Intended, or not, because this hasn't come up in FAQ or Errata yet.
