Priming the Lambda Shuttle

By apoapsis, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

I'm looking to paint my shuttle and plan to use a spray primer, but I'm concerned that the primer might clog the hinges and stop the wings from moving. Does anyone have any experience/advice with this?

It should be fine. I sprayed mine.

But you'll have a much easier time if you take it to bits. The body pops in half along the line of the hinges.

Short of taking it apart, priming it as is should not be a problem on the hinges. The only thing to consider is priming them in the open position, and then in the closed (or vice versa).

Basically if you don't spray from 2 inches away and have it get runny on you, there shouldn't be an issue.

If you're really concerned, you could simply mask off the area of the hinges and hand-paint primer there once you've finished spraying.
