YT-2400 Outrider Squad List (No Proxy)

By JediConsular4hire, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Wild Space Fringer (30)

Outrider (5)

HLC (7)

Recon Specialist (3)

Norra Wexley (29)

R2D2 (4)

Tail Gunner (2)

Push the Limit (3)

Resistance Overhaul (0)

Prototype Pilot (17)

What do you guys think about this build? I’m not interested in proxying upgrades. I just want to use whatever I actually own (group I play with doesn’t proxy). These are the sets I have:

Original Core set

Auzituck Gunship

ARC-170

YT-2400 Freighter

A-wing

Sabine’s Tie-fighter

I mostly play casual, but even the casual games I play are competitive. I’d like to build the best squad possible with the sets I have. Advice from experienced players is welcome. Thanks.

At least proxy the refit on the A-Wing so you can put Vectored Thrusters on Norra. Otherwise, it'll be more difficult for you to trigger tail gunner.

Ditch the prototype pilot for Captain Rex, take Vectored Thrusters, 1 point of whatever you like

Alternatively

(100)

•Norra Wexley (40) - ARC-170
Push The Limit (3), Tail Gunner (2), •R2-D2 (4), Alliance Overhaul (0), Vectored Thrusters (2)

•Eaden Vrill (32) - YT-2400

Wookiee Liberator (28) - Auzituck Gunship
Tactician (2)

Thats a lot of HP to go through, and if you pair the Wookiee and Vrill up, the Wookiee shoots first with the tactician, then follow up with Vrill’s primary 3 it can be pretty effective.

If you don’t proxy how do you know what to buy next and what you like/dislike? If you play casual it should be totally acceptable to proxy. It shouldn’t be a pay to win situation for casual play. It’s super easy to print out a list from a squad builder that has all the cards and descriptions, can even do a card view so it’s like as if you have the card right there.

Anyways, if still no proxies, I’d listen to the other posters.

I couldn’t imagine being a part of a playing community that doesn’t allow proxy cards or where players borrow each other’s stuff. Even at regionals people borrow from each other.

But I guess everywhere is different.

Buy every piece of plastic crack you can!

The problem with that is when you hit your credit card limit ;)

Well, it’s not neccessarily a “community”, just a small group of friends. We may end up proxying here and there in the future.

Right now we are all new players, I think the fear of proxying is where does it end? Currently, I have to evaluate each expansion pack extensively and weigh all of the pros and cons before purchasing. It makes each expansion pack I buy feel worth every penny. If one of my friends were to say “well let’s pretend like I have this upgrade and that upgrade.” Now all of the time I spent crunching numbers and squad building based on the contents of an expansion has gone to waste.

I just like making things worth my money and time. Deciding to fully proxy upgrades in your matches is basically saying, I’ll just drop this $15-$40 to have a plastic ship model. Doesn’t matter what else is in there.

If you have a 3-D printer and you’re into proxying upgrades, all you really need is a core set to play. Why spend money on any expansions?

That’s really what I mean. Just proxy here and there. Mostly upgrades. I find it too difficult to keep track of pilot and maneuver templates.

I can’t change the reality that only about 20% of an expansion is actually playable in a competitive nature. If you get more than that out of an expansion it’s money well spent. Ghost expansion and Scruug come to mind. Excellent value there (until harpoons killed cruise missiles).

I’m not sure you can justify not proxying to validate money well spent. But you have the right tothat opinion and I respect whatever you need to do to make the game enjoyable. My advice is to buy ships and pilots you want to fly. Proxying will help you figure out which expansions you need to fill out that squad.

I’ll ignore the fact that most of X-Wing players don’t have access to a 3D printer. Compared to other games, the $15-$40 for the ship is actually easier and less time consuming than printing and painting a made-from-scratch model. And if everyone decided to stop buying things, then boom. X-Wing is no longer profitable and FFG would stop developing it.

If you don’t want to proxy all the time, I get it. I just don’t think you should box yourself in if you’re just getting into the game and don’t have a community to let you borrow resources.
