Newfangled XXX! (or XXS?)

By Maui., in X-Wing Squad Lists

After my old school MXGA shenanigans (Predator Wedge + Expertise Luke) to ease me into X-wing over the last couple of weeks and get me hyped for the upcoming fix, I decided to try to figure out a plan for running a solid Rebel ace list. This is the version I settled on:

Wedge Antilles (29)
Veteran Instincts (0)
Flight-Assist Astromech (1)
Renegade Refit (-2)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)
Integrated Astromech (0)

Luke Skywalker (28)
Veteran Instincts (0)
R2-D2 (4)
Renegade Refit (-2)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)
Integrated Astromech (0)

Poe Dameron (PS9) (33)
Veteran Instincts (1)
BB-8 (2)
Primed Thrusters (1)
Autothrusters (2)
Black One (1)

Total: 98

There's two points left over to work with, so in theory I could upgrade Luke's EPT to Lone Wolf or Predator, or Wedge's astro to M9-G8. I'm not necessarily married to a bid because a pair of X-wings should be tougher than whatever someone else is bringing to PS11.

ALTERNATE LIST: swapping out Luke for the Rebel boogeyman--VI Fenn Rau with hotcop & m9-g8 would shave two points from the total, giving three PS11 aces with a 1 or 2 point bid after putting R2-D2 on either Poe or Wedge. I plan on trying the 3x PS11 variation a bit just to see how it works out; I've never used Fenn Rau before.

Have you forgotten about the Servomotor S-Foils? They give your T-65s multiple additional features, such as a boost or barrel roll and a green 2 bank or a 3 T-roll.

I knew I forgot to add something in (I had to do it by hand). Yes, the X-wings have that equipped of course.

Nice list, even though I would not use as many VIs :)

I personally think "Intensity" seems to be just perfect for BB-8 Poe with Primed Thrusters

I dug out my old Rogues, applied the new upgrades and... you can’t spend enough points on three! It’s strange!

You can. Nothing makes you equip Servomotors as your second modification, it's just the free option. Integrated Astromech & Shield Upgrade, for example, is a nasty combination on an R2-D2 X-wing.

EXPERTISE-WING:

Wes + VI + M9G8

Wedge + Expertise + R5P9

Luke + Expertise + R2D2

96 points, which is either a solid bid or a shield upgrade on Luke (I'd keep the S-Foils, personally, but I might drop IA for it if I didn't care about the bid).

Or both. With the number of cheap upgrades on Wes, Chopper offers a realistic possibility for triple-regen-X-wings. By the time you've bunked off renegade refit, servomotor s-foils and veteran instincts, and chopper himself through integrated astromech, that's 4 extra hits.

If you need to burn through an X-wing's shields more than three times over, you're officially having a bad day.

How do we feel about this variant:

XXX Aces

Wedge Antilles (29)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Renegade Refit (-2)
M9-G8 (3)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Luke Skywalker (28)
Draw Their Fire (1)
Renegade Refit (-2)
R2-D2 (4)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Poe Dameron (PS9) (33)
Veteran Instincts (1)
BB-8 (2)
Primed Thrusters (1)
Autothrusters (2)
Black One (1)

Total: 100

It's the full 100 pts, but like I said before, I don't think a bid is crazy important for this list despite the 2x PS11. M9-G8 on Wedge gives some offense/defense flexibility and Luke can hopefully soak up a bit of damage during jousts, especially against lists that like adding crits (so, all of them these days).

My worry is that DTF might not be useful enough to keep Wedge and Poe alive. My alternate plan right now would be back to Flight Assist on Wedge, and give Luke Lone Wolf. Then Wedge and Poe fly in together as PS11 buddies while Luke flanks.

What about this?

PS 9 Poe

VI

Adv. Optics

BB-8

Black One

IA

Luke

Expertise

FAA

Refit

IA

S-Foils

Wedge

Expertise

FAA

Refit

IA

S-Foils

Luke and Wedge hit HARD, Poe provides some TL control, Luke is a bugger to kill
