Here are what I have to call Sn-and Troopers.
I went a little heavy on the Seraphim Sepia wash and so they are environmental gear desert troopers.

Here are my Jungle/Wet environment Rebel Commandos:
I did some head swaps on these and decided to use my extra Fleet Trooper heads to give it a more unique squad look. The heads are from Mel Miniatures in his Shapeway shop.
I decided to give the Dresselian an Orrimaarko look. When I pick up another set of Fleet Troopers one is getting a Nien Nunb look.
Once again four shades on the Mon Calamari sniper. I wanted to do a full squad of these guys but after seeing this one I am a little intimidated.

That is an AT-AT popcorn bucket in the background. Just decided to throw it in.
Edited by C3POFETTWorking on my Scouts now. My first squad is going to be a mixed squad using grays and black. Although they will be a single squad no two will look exactly the same.(using different shades of gray) Kind of an A-Team vibe for that one. Like the best of the best forming a single squad.
Edited by C3POFETTIt’s been said before but you are one of the cleanest painters I’ve seen. Your models look solid. If you push yourself a bit with your wash game I think you could take it to the next level pretty easy. You seem more than precise enough to do a careful wash then come back with your original color for a highlight. Maybe try it out with a rebel trooper. The games workshop washes are skill in a bottle.

I agree these miniatures look like little action figures. I enjoy seeing custom miniatures and paint jobs that are different through the community. Your color choices are simple but contrast each other well. I look forward to seeing your scouts.

This has got to be the coolest commando squad I have seen. I like the fleet trooper heads and the alien heads to give it a personal look.

I sincerely thank you. You have no idea how OCD I am when it comes to touching up my miniatures to achieve a clean paint job.
After some feedback on my Fleet Troopers I honestly did try to use washes on the faces. The contrast between the reikland fleshshade and the "never seen the sun before" flesh paint I use was pretty big. Although my lighting is poor I did use them and was happy with the Dresselian, Quarren and Sullustan. I have watched videos and asked for advice yet I am too critical of my results.
I am actually going to pick up another set of Fleet Troopers because their outfit comes close to Nien Nunb and I want add him to the game since I still have some 3D printed heads from the custom set put together for me by Mel Miniatures. I was able to make Orrimaarko for my custom Rebel Commando squad. I will use the remaining Fleet Troopers as "test subjects" to find a technique for faces that works and looks good. I don't mind going back and repainting all the miniatures faces once I figure it out.

Honestly I use paints purchased from Michaels Arts and Crafts and Hobby Lobby. I do own a full set of all the Citadel washes as well.
I use "Satin" finish paints because it is very hard to find a brush stroke when dry. They are honestly table ready when finished although I do brush on either a "Matte", "Satin" or a "Gloss" clear coat. There is a much larger variety of colors and they run about $0.79 to maybe $1.29 each. Don't get me wrong I love the results I see in other community members posts using Citadel and Vallejo paints.
After purchasing Imperial Assault I saw some of Sorastros videos and was ready to go all in for Citadel and Vallejo paints. I had to go this route because in my area no Gaming Shop sells Citadel or Vallejo so I had to buy/use what was available and I couldn't be happier with my results.

Those are the paints I primarily use as well, although I don't tend to use satins. I use Citadel washes as well. When I first started painting miniatures, I strictly used Citadel paints, but that got costly. I still use some Citadel or Vallejo paints for some special cases, namely for flesh colors and metallics. I have found that while you can often initially tell the difference between craft store and Citadel/Vallejo paints, once I spray a clear satin or matte coat on them, they don't look any different.

Very nice. Yes I use the "Satin" finish paints pretty much for the look achieved when they dry. No visible brushstrokes. All of my pictures are of my miniatures before the final clear coat. I find the gunmetal by craftsmart is an excellent sub for leadbelcher and it takes all the washes very well.

It shows. If someone told me your minis were molded plastic in the colors you’ve painted I would be hard pressed to argue. The satin finish does make them look a bit like toys and I tend to agree that if you were to add washes to, for example, the pants then it would immediately improve the mini as far as realism.
Having said that, since you don’t like to do an environmental base for your minis the “toy” look works really well.

Thank you. I don't deserve all the credit though. The heads are from mel Miniatures shapeway shop. They were a custom request set that Mel put together for me and he saw nice enough to include them in his shop. Mel has an amazing collection of heads/miniatures spanning the Prequels to the Original Trilogy.
I do hope to request a 7 head set of Mon Calamari for a Rebel Squad I want to customize from @melminiatures soon. I am hesitant because of the arms. I am working on doing them with "Green Stuff" or Testors Contour Putty which I used on the hair line for Han Solo.
Here are my first squad of Scouts:
Kind of a mash-up of Scouts I call "Shadow Squad" I pictured this squad as a "best of the best" type squad quite possibly hand picked by Veers himself to follow him into battle. I could see these running along side Mud Troopers or on an outer rim planet.

really pleased with how they came out and looked together as a squad until I took this picture.
Edited by C3POFETTHere is my Empire Strikes Back Boba Fett:
I know the blaster is not ESB accurate, but who's to say he didn't already own it before RotJ.
Took a picture in front of my custom Death Star/Star Destroyer decals for my Interior Battle Table.

I like this one. It reminds me of a tiny kenner action figure. Your scouts don't look too bad some of them look pretty good and your terminals look great. Where did you get the background?

Thank you. Looking at the Scouts at arms length and beyond on a table, the squad looks pretty cool. My thought was a group of Scout Troopers that were on an extreme mission but were not formally one single squad. I pictured them on Yavin doing recon.
My next Scout Trooper squad in the works right now is being painted similar to an AT-AT Driver for a cold environment squad.
The decals were all done on Microsoft Paint. These were originally made for a 3-D custom map for Imperial Assault. It was originally intended for a custom skirmish game and within days of completing enough designs to get my table built, Legion was announced. I will need to resize them since they were modeled at IA scale and the taller miniatures look like they just fit in door ways.

4-a-duel has some Mon Cal arms on his shapeways store if you want a starting point.

No idea how easy they would be to tease into the right poses, though.

Thank you for the links. I saw them recently in another thread and they look nice. My thought was to make use of the FFG sculpts and weapons. Hopefully without doing any trimming. I know I would never achieve the look of the arms from 4 a Duel Tabletop.
Going that route I guess it would require buying some blasters from Skull Forge Studios. Even though they are not timeline accurate I was thinking about using the Battle Droid blasters. I think it would give the squad a very unique look.
You are a great example of why I enjoy this community so much. I don't post here looking for a pat on the back. (if I want a pat on the back I must grow longer arms!) I enjoy seeing something unique and being inspired to "paint" outside the box and create a unique squad. Hopefully I can inspire others too.
Here are my "AT-AT Driver" inspired, extreme weather Scout Troopers.
I wanted a squad that could look like it belonged on Hoth and my love of pilots Imperial as well as Rebel led to this paint scheme.
Speeder bike squad to match in the works.

AT_AT popcorn bucket in background. Lighting doesn't really do these guys justice.
@TauntaunScout should get a kick out of these guys.
Yes I do. They look better than my warm toned off-white ones to be sure.

Your miniatures and custom tables look great. I have always been a huge fan of ESB and Hoth has always been a favorite location for me. I had everything Kenner made that was Hoth related. Snowspeeders, AT-AT, all 3 Hoth playsets, Tauntauns, a Wampa, and of course the figures.
If I wasn't so dead set on an interior table (Death Star and Bespin) Hoth would probably be my first choice. Tattooine and Endor are too common, I would want either a jungle on Yavin or the swamps of Dagobah even though there was never a battle there.

Absolutely LOVE this squad. No offense but I am totally "borrowing" this idea. I have seen a shop on shapeways that sells Legion scale AT-AT driver heads. An FYI for your love of pilots.
Thanks for the inspiration and keep posting.
