The shaft is ray-shielded, so you'll have to use proton torpedoes.

By theBitterFig, in X-Wing

WEDGE That's impossible, even for a computer.

LUKE It's not impossible. I used to bull's-eye womp rats in my T-sixteen back home. They're not much bigger than two meters.

Darn?

Wonder how the meta would shift if Proton Torpedoes went under shields...

They shouldn't go under shields, but they should deliver a set amount of damage if they hit. Throw 2-3 die, deal 4 damage if it hits. Murder on large base ships, but less likely to do much against high agility aces; just like ordnance performed in the old PC games and books.

Guess we'll have to wait for 2.0. Would be nice to murder Ghosts and Miranda with them...

And... basically everything else because you're often ignoring 3+ health?

Not even Poons are that broken

I was basing it off of @Alpha17's idea of having it throw 2-3 die. That way high agility ships could avoid it regularly but tankier ships would be much more vulnerable..

Just let them keep their TL and you would see them

goddamn I'd love if they could keep their TL

would go so ham on Proton Torps Norra

I always liked the idea of:

High Yield Proton Torps
Unique
Range: 2
Dice: 3
Attack (Target Lock):
Discard this card and your target lock to perform this attack.
If this attack hits, cancel all dice results. The defender suffers a number of damage equal to the printed shield value on their pilot card.

Power creep at its finest. (maybe balance it by making it take two torp slots). Not sure how this would actually influence the game. Likely horribly depending on cost.

perhaps removes shield tokens, as to eliminate hull damage possibilities, or have it max at 4-5 for balance reasons

This was an older custom I did, for situational "anti low agility"

Less accurate than even a 2 die TL primary, but if you roll well and they dont evade could do more damage than an HLC or harpoon. Or if you're against tie fighters it does nothing. Situational, so 1 point.

Using up the torp leaves me with hope that FFG will later add a title for the T-65.

It's specifically a Renegade refit. Saw's Renegades aren't going out and blasting with torpedoes. They want dogfighters, so they converted the space dedicated for torpedoes into another modification.

Send one of those refitted X-Wings against a completed Death Star and let me know how well those quad laser cannons work for you.

Wedge didnt even shoot at the reactor... he only took out the much smaller power relay(?).

You get the impression concussion missives were needed for the reactor itself... which neither T65 packs ?

I've seen that discussion a few times, but didn't Wedge shoot the larger of the two targets? And use torpedoes, while the Falcon only fired lasers? (with the distinctive "whamp, whamp!" sound effects?)

With this trend, we’ll have more non-weapon torpedo upgrades than actual secondaries.

EM

Bomb Loadout

Seismic Torps

Renegade Refit

vs

5 actual torps. None of which keep the TL.

no, Wedge shot the power regulator with Torps while the falcon fired huge concussion missiles, per the novelization back in 1983

I spoke too soon.

Built-in Extra Munitions. Does not spend the TL.

Anyhow, it all goes back to my thought for an X-Wing "fix" was that they ought to get better with Torpedos. That would have been a thematic buff. Servos and Renegade Refit are fine, but it's wasabi when I wanted chili peppers. Both spice things up, I was just looking for a different flavor.

I still think torpedoes should have dealt damage differently, with a set amount if they hit. You don't dodge half a missile, you take it all or it misses. (most of the time/near misses being the exception)
