Lets make some Heroic Abilities

By Richardbuxton, in Genesys

That’s a really decent idea, giving each basic power a price, perhaps it should increase based on the number of powers you have like Specialisations in SW:

Power 1: 1

Power 2: 2

Power 3: 3

Power 4: 4

etc

that should encourage players to not just grab the basic power on a bunch of them, but instead invest into each a bit more.

I would definitely have an Obligation style mechanic in a Supers game to represent things like Dependants (Spiderman's Aunt May), Criminal (Antman), Oath (King of Asgard - Thor), etc.

I can also see powers as a Suite of options which include the basic power upgrades, and talents.

Sorry, I've hijacked the thread with my thoughts on Supers.

Don’t be sorry! I enjoy bashing out ideas and supers have so much potential with the narrative dice. This really is an ideas thread anyway

For superpowers, I am considering using the BASH system as a basis for creating Super-Skills. Most are already ranked 1-5 and may work rather well in converting.

Or, for Powers, you simply use Heroic Abilities, but they go past 'Supreme'.

Instead, add a 4th level 'SuperPower' level.

At those levels, the abilities should reflect super-powered heroic abilities.

I made one for my verse paladin.

Very basic and doesn't have advanced version but - "Every other character within up to medium range of the character must upgrade the difficulty once of all checks they make until the end of the character's next turn.

Always looking for ideas and suggestions.
