Gotta stop reading the forums, or they'll give me unrealistic expectations about the usability of my U-wings

so there's this guy with a real unfortunate name who's Saw's second fiddle, and I thought second fiddle to Saw's U-wing...until I was reminded that Jan Oars crew exists

with Rec Spec and Oars, Bennie 2 2ubes can hand evades out like candy, or he can tank up with focus + evade himself. Throw on FCS for mods up the whazzoe, and you have yourself a very decent 29 points

Set him up with Norra (predator, rey, r2d2, vectored, title) and Low (draw their fire, magva, chopper) and you have an interesting squad going.

I'm guessing you throw extra focus onto Low at the beginning to modify his attack. Then you switch to hurling evades at whatever ship your opponent is focusing

I am worried about how **** clunky the U is. Unlike with my Saw build (wired, hera, ezra), Chew Cubes cares a lot about getting his action (it's literally the reason he's in the dang squad) and that could play havoc between him, his fat ***, and lowhrick. Still, I guess it's worth an outing.

I had a similar idea, but with Jyn/Jan. But yes. That dial. I'd speculate on Engine and Interface, but that's getting pretty spendy for a support U-Wing....

Jyn Jan is something I used to do with Heff. Was not a fan of requiring arc to trigger jyn or requiring bumps to get Heff her dang mods.

Tubes seems more overall useful because he isn't so finicky, just load him up and press the big green button

But jyn won't work with tubes because he only triggers on his focus action

Maybe consider Ahsoka or another free action granting ship to insure the combo doesn't go to waste if he gets blocked to death. I know it starts to enter jank territory but Ahsoka is usually good for Norra anyways.

Ah. Of course. I did not have the cards in front of me, forgot that that Jyn is not a Focus action - just an action that assigns tokens. Didn't click that Bennie is specifically a Focus action. Hamstring the guy, why don't you?

A beefier kyle katarn that is shorter range. Dunno about two tubes.

I think adv sensors is probably a must cause bumping will be inevitable as well as going around rocks away from your squad, etc. And can use his ability on the stop maneuver which is the best thing on the dial.

it's a little bit more than just beefier KK, though.

What I like about 2-2ubes is his cost (1 point more than the Pathfinder, so really you're not paying anything for his ability and you're getting +2 ps for 1 point) clocking in at 22 points with refit

compared to KK's 21...without upgrades

you need to throw 6 points onto Kyle just to make him relevant (TLT), and by that point you've already loaded 2 2ubes with everything he needs. When loaded for bear, not only is 2 2ubes an annoying support ship but he can also sit on full mods (TL from fcs, focus from recspec) for a very reasonable 28 point cost. And if he's not supporting, he gets to sit on focus + evade for defense. Even as a last man standing, that's not bad at all

Kyle gets...TLT? One, barely modified TLT? Unmodified if you have to toss your focus?

The real boon to the U Wing (plus B wing for that matter), will be if the new thrust corrector card is the defensive version of accuracy corrector allowing you to just keep the K turn side of the pivot wing title up and turn your 1 agility into a kind of continuous 3po. Their usability jumps way up if that's the case, obviously not confirmed yet but certainly seems possible

but if they do...

I think Benthic is a really solid support ship. With Rey, Rec Spec, and FCS, he has consistent offense and defense mods for himself while still being able to pass around a focus token. And he is budget AF.
