Edited by That Blasted SamophlangeInteresting that they're breaking from the style of Clone Wars and Rebels for a cel shaded look. It's about flying/dogfights so X-wing will probably benefit the most. And I bet people will finally get their Snoke backstory they've been clamoring for.
can't wait. I avoided TCW and Rebels for years, and really only started watching Rebels due to a combination of X-Wing releases and the Marvel "Kanan" comics series but soon realized what a treasure trove of awesome content I had missed, really looking forward to this.

I just finished watching The Clone Wars recently as I, too, avoided it for years. These forums are what made me finally break down and watch it. The large number of people hoping for Clone or Droid armies made me wonder where the interest was coming from. I was surprised at what TCW ended up being, but I still don't want a Clone or Droid army. I like my Rebels.
I certainly hope with a focus on the sequel Era we do get some First Order and Resistance troops
However, if the focus is indeed fighter pilots, X-wing may reap more benefit.
Probably nothing there for legion, who knows maybe some ground vehicle.
Definitely a gold mine for X-Wing, I just hope the ships design is star-warsy. We all know some old EU stuff should never have happened.
Well, I said the only reason I'm reluctant on ST is lack of distinctive units and elements, and another project in that era to fill it out would help that.
I will agree with others, if it's more flight based X-Wing and Armada will likely reap more immediate benefit - though you never know would could see more distinct art direction for either side on foot. Same art direction as Rebels I think, which was always good, even if writing/budgeting limitations sometimes plagued the application of those designs.
I fully agree that it more ‘x-wing friendly’ than Legion, but if we look at The Force Awakens, and the comics, Poe has done a lot outside the cockpit.
The great thing is this can flesh out the Era, possibly detailing the New Republic.
Plus, a Poe and Phasma mini? Yes please.
Has anyone ever read the book Bloodlines by Claudia Gray? It follows Leia as Senator in the waning days of the New Republic and the roots of the Resistance and First Order. It's a decent book as Star Wars novels go but by no means required reading. But if you are interested in backstory and the larger scale galactic politics that has largely been missing from the new trilogy, it does a great job.
I suspect the Resistance series will take place a lot closer to TFA than Bloodlines.

Claudia Gray is a great wtiter, especially with Leia. You are probably right with it being closer than bloodlines. If I recall in Bloodlines, she had just recruited Poe.

We've not even had the announcement of the second Imperial unit expansion yet, and folk already want to skip ahead to Sequel stuff. I'd much rather they raid Rebels for content first than this thing(personally I'm just disappointed that the show isn't based on the obvious setup from the Rebels finale - Sabine and Ahsoka searching for Ezra post-Endor as the Empire falls apart and the New Republic struggles to come into being is a far more interesting premise to my mind than "Junior Rogue Squadron, with special guests from the new movies").

Does it seem likely, given the current upswing in sheer quantity of Star Wars titles, that this is going to be the only show they make?
I propose not.

As far as we know, the only shows in the pipeline right now are this one and the live action one. Also, if anyone was going to be doing the Sabine & Ahsoka thing it'd be Filoni, who's evidently going to be busy with this one.

Just gonna say, I don't think that hoping that the new trilogy fleshes out the ST era instantly means people want a ST army now. I for one want to see ST armies and units... in a year or two after the existing armies have a variety of options.
As for your comment about Sabine and Ahsoka, I suspect we will see that thread continue in this Resistance show, in the same way that we saw some Clone Wars story lines continue into Rebels. I don't think it will be the focus of the show, but I do think it will be the resolution to the Ezra and Thrawn question.
