Star Wars: Resistance Discussion Thread [Armada Forum]

I don't mind if it's catered to kids, I can get past that. But the style of that animation makes me want to stab my eyeballs out.

You’ve got a kid now, get used to it ?

What's that? We're going to loop nothing but Mr Rogers Neighborhood? Got it!

Tell me how you’re doing after 16 consecutive hours of “Howdy Neighbour...”

Agreed. I also find the lighting here to be extremely on the bright side I want to put on shades to watch this. The 3d animation just makes the characters look super weird especially their facial expressions and movements.

This is my house with a 2yo. It's honestly not bad.

There are better shots of the fighter and it is definitely not an xwing. Looks very similar to an Ewing but definitely different in a few ways. Crabok has a video that shows it well.

I really dislike the animation. It looks clumsy and minimalist. I disagree with @BrobaFett, I don't think it's anything like the Avatar series. Not a fan of the characters either so I'll pass on this one too.

The only good think I can see from this is that it may fill osme of the gap between OT and Mouse Trilogy.

Well... so much for the idea Filoni can do no wrong (although he probably has a lot of chefs in his kitchen for this show)

The art style reminds me of Avatar: Last Airbender. I've been trying to think all day where I've seen art like that - that was it!

For all the people maligning it for being a kids show - kids my sons age both boys and girls (5) are HUGE into Star Wars but there hasn't really been much for them. Rebels catered to an older kid audience, likely the kids that were around my sons age or a little older when the show started/Force Awakens came out and are now 10ish, and it matured with them (the older kids) to the point where when my son was old enough to watch the show the content of the episodes that were playing live was pretty dark and too mature for him.

Now they are starting over the process with that same age range - creating a show that caters to 5/6/7 year olds while they are enraptured by Star Wars and will no double grow up with them and handle increasingly mature themes and plots just the same as Rebels did over it's 4 year run time.

After this one completes that life cycle - guess what - I am sure it will happen AGAIN for that next group of 5ish year old kids that is coming of Star Wars Fan Engagement Age(TM). So for those that are complaining- just let the kids have something please.

And after THAT we will get a canon star wars teletubbies-equivalent TV series for the 3 and 4 year old ones right? ? **** Star Wars is such a shameless cash cow, im so glad that disney (or lucas, wasnt better) doesnt own every sci fi IP, otherwise we would have cutsy cylons in Battlestar and "funny" child actors in The Expanse.

And btw people (including kids) are attracted to interesting characters and exciting stories, thats why kids can enjoy The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars too. Just tell them to look away during the scenes that are too graphic for their age. The whole idea that for kids to like this movies you have to include a lot of childish humour and toys was one lucas came up with because he didn't understand that kids can enjoy mature stories too, even with limited understanding of them. Disney just continued that trend.

Star Wars IS a kid’s show.

Always was.

The first 30 minutes of A New Hope has a man's neck audibly snapped, and Luke finds his Aunt and Uncle's charred corpses on the front porch. I wouldn't say that Star Wars is a very young kids series.

I see this the same way I see the sequel trilogy: If you don't like it fine, just don't bash people who do. I can honestly see both sides, but personally I think I will check it out (so long as it comes to bluray or DVD). Its not like there is a shortage for good sci-fi series these days, so just watch whatever floats your boat.

I spy something that looks like it's parent was an R-41 starchaser

A lot of people hated Rebels too, but it turned out ok. I'm willing to sit through a few episodes to see what it's about- seeing more First Order vs Resistance stories is worth it.

So what I want to know is, is that an R-41 starchaser? Those things haven't been seen on a screen of any kind since The Force Unleashed II game! Great to see them come back and show up front and center! The structure looks the same, ditto with the armament, but the cockpit was slid far forward so it might be a variant.

I also said to myself "R-41 Starchaser" when i saw the image. Maybe a new fighter from Hoersch-Kessel that draws from the original design?

The first three episodes are on demand so I naturally binged them.

I enjoyed it a lot. So far I have to say I actually like it considerably more then the first season of Rebels.

Its definitely a kids show, something I had issue with at first but now i’m okay with. We adults get a lot of content from books, graphic novels, to even the spinoff films like Solo and Rogue One (come on we all know those are for the older fans.)

I love how this show blends the three trilogies. Seeing aliens from the Mos Eisley Cantina and Mos Espa brush elbows with aliens from Max Kanata’s Castle is incredibly rewarding. As is all the pieces of reused OT tech on the walls of the bar or in the ships or bring worn by the pirates.

The lead is a bumbling fool but is an obviously good person. As a result he comes off less precocious like Ezra and more sympathetic. I kinda like this dude, he’s a fool with a heart of gold.

So far I’ve not encountered a character I groaned at like so often happened in Rebels until old favorites from Clone Wars appeared.

So far I liked the first three episodes. They're for kids, that's for sure, but the place/scenery/story is fresh and has got potential. I also liked the animation, for me looked better than in Rebels. I hope the lead will get more adult quickly or at least has it's Coming of Age moment, some of his behavior is really stupid (maybe not for the kids watching).

Don't know what the show might bring for Armada, but I'm pretty sure we will see some elements in X-Wing.

Like with Clone Wars I hoped also for new (sub)factions of the First Order and the Resistance, but... well, don't know if that will ever happen...

Echoing the last few comments, he's a young kid, and can be foolish at times, but so far it's pretty tropy in the stories (watch out for the cool kids, don't let them talk you into doing something that's wrong, watch out for shooting off your mouth as people might think you're serious, etc), but that's not a problem. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it ties into TFA and the build-up of the Resistance/FO conflict, as they're definitely running very cool plots with that (what the pirates are doing, etc).

The art style is weird, but I thought that about both Clone Wars series, and forgot about it as it went along, so I'm sure I'll get used to it. Now that someone has mentioned it, it does remind me a lot of the RWBY style, and I love that show, so probably why I'm not bother by it.

Looking forward to giving it at least a season to develop and see where it goes, then I'll make my call, but especially with the Mandalorian coming, we'll have one show geared towards adults, and one for younger kids and I think that's great!

I haven't seen it yet, and I probably will not be making the time to do so for a few years. I'm about to be adopted by a family that has very young children who will be the right age for these in a couple years.

I think that there should be a kid's show like this. Gotta get 'em hooked young. My generation had Droids and Ewoks. Of course they were terrible, but they were awesome nonetheless, because they were Star Wars! I wasn't a very effective critic at age 9-11. Thank goodness for that.

Watched the second episode not near as bad as the trailer critics though. Enjoyable episode even if the plot seems silly probably need to watch the first episode to better understand the plot

Without Droids we wouldn't have Trucker Hat Screed! And isn't him driving a convoy across the stars important?

T-85 x-wing: even uglier than the T-70, which was already worse than the T-65. Man, I was really hoping that they'd get a new x-wing done right. So far, for the ST, the only designs I like are the resurgent star destroyer and new a-wing. Kylo ren

As far as the show goes, I don't like it at the moment, but then again, I didn't like rebels or clone wars at first, and ended up really liking them by shows' finishes.

Do these renders of the T-85 help? Someone tried to make a live action look based off the show's depiction.

The person who made these, EC Henry, also gave a shot at fixing the wings to be aligned like the T-65s and T-70s rather than not being tied together like they are in the show.

And here is the video he shows the stuff off in if you want to see that too.

This guy should work for Lucasfilm, that's very good work.
