Is this Clone Wars / Rebels style animation?

The series was created by renowned Lucasfilm Animation veteran Dave Filoni”

Does that mean Rebels is finished?

Like the idea of something backfill that time period. Not a fan of doing it in anime style. I will keep my expectations extremely low so I can be pleasantly surprised if it is actually good.

Super excited for this. It'll detail the time just before TFA, so maybe we will get Sloane etc? also possible links to Ahsoka, Sabine and Ezra. And look at that new X-wing :)

This was Filoni's comment on Ahsoka post Rebels Finale, taken from https://io9.gizmodo.com/the-mystery-of-ahsoka-tano-will-remain-a-mystery-for-a-1823625774

Filoni wouldn’t tell us what he’s doing next, only that he knows what he’s doing next, “for the most part.”

“It’s a weird way to answer it, but it’s a more complex answer than what you might think,” he said. “It’s not as simple as it used to be, which I would say that’s a good thing. Things will be revealed over time.”

And, hopefully, that refers not just to Filoni’s next project, but Ahsoka Tano herself.

I'm particulary interested in how he says " It’s not as simple as it used to be" which makes me really excited for the future of the Star Wars Universe. We have already had hints of this regarding the planet Batuu and the 'threat' in the Unknown Regions. Disney are masters of story, afterall :)

I don't care about Tano, I want to know what happened to Grand Admiral Thrawn!!!

Yep. It ended with season 4.

I wonder if that is meant to be the famed T-80 we’ve heard about.

From this angle it’s hard to tell if it is an X-Wing. Might be a new T-Wing.

It's probably the T-80 X-Wing.

It looks more like an E- than an X-Wing. The visible wings seem to stick out from the main engine horizontally, not at an angle, leaving no room for the other 2 wings of the X.

Of course, the S-foils could just be down, but if that's the case, where are the other two cannons? They are not visible in the image above (Edit: though given the top-down viewpoint, that's an easily counterable point).

There is a comment in the disney article about being inspired by high speed racing. I don't think the ship seen in the image is a T-## anything. I think it is more likely a racing only fighter in the same manner as old P-51s and F-4 Corsairs getting hacked up for RedBull air racing. Still not a bad way to get some new hotshot pilot dragged into the resistance.

Dave Filoni, anime style, starfighter pilots? Sounds like Avatar The Last Airbender meets Rogue Squadron.

Color me intrigued.

Aside from the Cowboy Bebop style art direction on that logo reveal (that X-Wing is doing a great impression of the Swordfish) I really want to see some actual stills or test animation. We know that Poe and Phasma will have a presence yet don't even see what they'll look like.

There's a trailer out I saw on facebook but I can't find it on youtube yet.

Keep your eyes out.

It's 3-Dimensional but in a drawn style, sort've reminds me of Zelda: Windwaker.

That animation style...so freakin' ugly.

This definitely has a long way to go to get me watching.

This looks lame , I'm sorry.

Hmmm... not blown away by the teaser

I don't know about anyone else, but before this the only shows I've seen use this style of animation are kids shows. Like, for really young children. That is not a good starting point.

Based on the trailer, it seems that this is one of those shows.

A lot of people hated Rebels too, but it turned out ok. I'm willing to sit through a few episodes to see what it's about- seeing more First Order vs Resistance stories is worth it.

So what I want to know is, is that an R-41 starchaser? Those things haven't been seen on a screen of any kind since The Force Unleashed II game! Great to see them come back and show up front and center! The structure looks the same, ditto with the armament, but the cockpit was slid far forward so it might be a variant.

Yeah, I'll likely pass. Looks like a kids show even more so than Rebels and I'm not a fan of that animation style. Oh well.

Animation reminds me of RWBY. Could be a lot worse.

Premise is... eh? Might end up being a bit too slapstick for me. Still, it took until season 2 for Rebels to get its feet under it. Same with a lot of shows that ended up going really well. ST:TNG and DS9 took 3 seasons.

The art style reminds me of Avatar: Last Airbender. I've been trying to think all day where I've seen art like that - that was it!

For all the people maligning it for being a kids show - kids my sons age both boys and girls (5) are HUGE into Star Wars but there hasn't really been much for them. Rebels catered to an older kid audience, likely the kids that were around my sons age or a little older when the show started/Force Awakens came out and are now 10ish, and it matured with them (the older kids) to the point where when my son was old enough to watch the show the content of the episodes that were playing live was pretty dark and too mature for him.

Now they are starting over the process with that same age range - creating a show that caters to 5/6/7 year olds while they are enraptured by Star Wars and will no double grow up with them and handle increasingly mature themes and plots just the same as Rebels did over it's 4 year run time.

After this one completes that life cycle - guess what - I am sure it will happen AGAIN for that next group of 5ish year old kids that is coming of Star Wars Fan Engagement Age(TM). So for those that are complaining- just let the kids have something please.
