RollforDamage Uscru Map Breakdown

By brettpkelly, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Great stuff. Clear presentation. Good find with that nesting spot by the fountain. Can't wait to start using this map which seems like a good one for those with a lot of focus batteries (care package and Jabba).

Nice work! In your opinion, is the disadvantage for devious here balanced out by the massive advantage on Nal Hutta?

Thank you for the thoughts, very enjoyable read. Can't wait to play the new map, just been too busy to play it yet.

I'd say Devious is still an auto-include in all Merc lists, but it does lose a lot of value on this particular map.

I disagree. I think the bottom deployment is far superior to the top deployment. It is much easier to fight for the middle objectives from the bottom side IMO, and you have the cover from the tile. there is also cover for your terminal should they try to go that route.

There is also cover for your opponent as they approach your terminal and get shots on you if you position your list there.

Great article!! It's a very tricky map. In my short experience with it, the doors are the key.

One question though, you mention there are 7 Swiss rounds at the World's, is that right? I'm playing next week and I would like to know more details about the Tournament format, number of players, etc.

Has it been published anywhere?

Thanks.

Number of players hasn’t been published that I know of. Odds are good between 100-128.

Jinx

Also, please tell me that i'm not the only one calling this map the "Scru U district". If so, I like it more than calling it the uscru district!

I've been calling it the "U-Screw" district. You might not want to sit in the couches...

Long day indeed. They ran 7 rounds in one day in '15 and '16. We weren't done until like 9pm. Pack snacks and don't forget your water bottle.

To be fair, the 7th round in 2016 was a top-16 elimination round (for some reason). The top-8 was the next day; there were only 6 rounds of Swiss.

This year, it appears to be 7 rounds of Swiss. Which means there may be a higher cap on the number of players, as well...?

Last year there were 7 rounds of Swiss, 5 on day 1 and 2 on day 2. The cap was 128 i think.

2015 though was a full 7 rounds in one day. It was quite a slog.
