What cool stuff does Saw's Expansion bring to Epic?

By pickirk01, in X-Wing Epic Play

So guys, how are we going to take advantage of the pilots and cards in this pack?

X-Wings which were already better suited to Epic than Satandard.* Now they are cheaper and more maneuverable so that is awesome right there. Throw your 3-6 of them in there and save points to load another cargo and crew on your Tantive or add a slippery little Prototype pilot in there.

I think the biggest impact may be the two crew, Saw and Magva. Magva and a Weapons engineer go a long way toward giving your Tantive some really good action economy as well as boosting your offense. And Saw, wow, a Tantive might take 3 or 4 self damage in a turn, but if it can turn 4-8 focus results into crits and get 3-4 of them through, that is worth it. Between these two crew and some Tibana gas, you have your offense set up for about three rounds. Leaves you free to set the rest of the Corvette up to either regen its shields or give 2-3 rounds of buffs to your squad.

What else are you guys thinking of for Epic with the new pack? How, if at all, do you think the new U-Wing Pilot abilities can help?

*I realized I mistyped standard before posting but the irony of the mistake was too funny to correct.

So

With a Recon Spec and Refit for 25 points, he can get a focus for himself and pass one to a nearby friendly Ion Torp Y-Wing or Harpoon Z-95 to really boost the offense. He also has those 2 mod slots available, possibly Ion Projectors and Anti-Pursuit laser for maximum bumping fun all at only 29 points.

If only B and Y-Wings had a generic with EPT slot, you could plop Saw in between a group of Wired ships for maximum non-action mods. He might be fun near a damaged Tantive, but by the time your Tantive has damage cards, it is probably low on energy or close to dying anyway. Not to mention, you probably are running saw as crew on the Tantive instead.
