The perfect second crew for Lowhhrick?

By DanteStorm, in X-Wing

So we all know Lowhhrick is popular and a very strong pilot, but he's there to get hit and help take hits, but sometimes his damage output can be frustrating, since usually, if lucky, you'll have a focus.

Some builds put Tactitian on him, which can be important, but it can also be useless agaisnt some ships. So what if we switch Tactitian for the new Magva Yarro?

For me, it makes perfect sense, everyone will probably be shooting at Lowhhrick first, because usually he has Selflessness and his ability, plus he's low ps, so he can actually use the target lock in that round... and if he has a focus or expertise, he's shooting fully modified dice.

So, think it's worth switching Tactitian for Magva Yarro? Or is Magva Yarro even a good crew for Low?

It such a great crew card - frankly in my opinion it will be nuts on a many more rebel ships.

I've seen Ezra Maul a lot on Low.

Magva is going to be the sleeper hit of the wave I think, she's a really great card for her price.

I used this exact description, so maybe it won’t be such a sleeper. Offensive mods are so strong, especially in crew slots... People often think FCS underpriced, but I think this ability is a lot better. I surprised she’s only two points.

She might be handy on Epic ships too - and Saw as well for that matter.

The thing about this is that there's a lot of counterplay. Your opponent decides which ships they want to attack. It seems pretty good on Lowhhrick: he's low enough PS that he can likely use the TL in the turn he's attacked. However, is it the case that we want the opponent to attack someone other than Lowhhrick? Put this on a Lowhhrick with C-3PO and Expertise, and folks will just not attack him. But maybe that's the goal. C-3PO + Reinforce goes a long way against a single ship. However, put this on the buddy Lowhhrick is protecting, and then maybe you make Lowhhrick the target.

Right up, the points-to-action-efficiency on this card is good. However, I don't really know the best way to use it, since how I use it is, in a lot of ways, my opponent's choice. It's interesting. Good design.

If they're not shooting Lowhhrick, great. He uses his ability and DTF or Selflessness to make them wish they had. If they shoot him, great, he uses threepio and reinforce to reduce the damage, and this and expertise to punch back hard. It's a great example of catch-22 listbuilding.

that's a VERY expensive Lowhrick, though

also one with double epts

with the preview of Saw's a lot of people seem to have forgotten that Rey (Crew) already exists and is already REALLY good. She provides similar offensive bonuses to Magva but can also apply them defensively, unless you're already running expertise.

though if you're running ReyLow, you can't use Rey (crew) obviously

True. But you get the general idea.

My idea had been to switch Lowhhrick's Tactitian in Stress Bunker to this so he can punch a little harder.

Rebels totally needed more solid, Rebel Only crew options! Maybe this will be the power spike that makes Rebels competitive!

Which is why I still refuse to buy a wookie gunship. FFG made him too good.
