For one of the campaign reboots I made up a 'generic' 2-1B surgical droid - brawn and agility were 1s so as not to metagame... he (it?) nearly lost an arm trying to open a rusted door - luckily I didn't roll a despair.... presence was also 1 due to him being a machine with no real bedside manner,,,, excellent medical skills and lore from a memory glitch, topped off with a built in anesthetic needle which doubled up as nice, humorous melee weapon that induced lots of stress instead of damage
The viability of getting by with a One attribute?
From the constantly ignored willpower 1 droid to the less than charismatic presence 1 hotshot who real "fun" at parties, etc
It's all fun. Weaknesses are fun. It's a little annoying that growing and overcoming that weakness is not xp efficient. Starting with a 5 in agility and raising your presence slowly from 1 to 4 is a rather slow process, while starting with a 4 in agility instead would allow you to start with a 3 in presence (Verpine examples). So the system is imho not helping for the RP experience there. Alas, the process to grow from an extremely talented, but irresponsible ******* hotshot into a squadron leader ... well, it's certainly worth to give up a little bit of min/maxing … mainly, because it is nice when your stats align with your character development.
I'm a fan of having contrasting strengths and weaknesses, so I approve of this thread.
Current character:
Tresk, Bothan Ace (Driver/Rigger). Brawn 1. The party's heavy on fighters, leaving Tresk as the odd man out. Fun bit of embarrassment: "Tresk, the Gamorrean hands you his rather heavy vibro-ax. Roll Athletics." Kind of got an interesting relationship with the team's Mando, Do'jeer: Tresk has earned a bit of respect for helping the group fight smart (or flat-out avoid unnecessary fights) and being fearless when he's on a swoop.
Party member:
Dracmus, Selonian Hired Gun(Marauder/Force Sensitive Emergent): Cunning and Presence 1. Half the fun is when he goes off on his own and gets himself into trouble with his mouth. Also, since he's something of an outcast Selonian (Selonians consider lying to be a major crime), he's apparently having fun telling tall tales... with a Deception pool of one ability die. During my turn as GM, he's had some 'lucky' rolls of 1 success and numerous threats... We should probably stay away from Kwenn Station for a while.
