4 Named Xs

Who knows if this will work, but it will be fun to try.

•Leevan Tenza (26) - X-Wing (T-65)
Juke (1), •BB-8 (2), Renegade Refit (-2), Integrated Astromech (0), Servomotor S-foils (0)

•Tarn Mison (24) - X-Wing (T-65)
•M9-G8 (3), Renegade Refit (-2), Integrated Astromech (0), Servomotor S-foils (0)

•"Hobbie" Klivian (25) - X-Wing (T-65)
Targeting Astromech (2), Renegade Refit (-2), Integrated Astromech (0), Servomotor S-foils (0)

•Kullbee Sperado (25) - X-Wing (T-65)
Veteran Instincts (0), Flight-Assist Astromech (1), Renegade Refit (-2), Integrated Astromech (0), Servomotor S-foils (0)

You fly them basically as a swarm, right?

Thoughts:

Tenza's build is probably the weakest. BB-8 lets you pick up an evade for free then clear off the stress, which is a nice trick, but whilst Juke is nice, getting any mileage out of the offensive side requires you to still have that evade token when your turn to shoot rolls around, and an X-wing isn't exactly hard to hit.

Tarn is Tarn. M9-G8 isn't as good as R7 Astromech on the one use you get with the latter, but it's a lot more flexible because it'll affect every single incoming attack - it basically makes it nigh impossible to land a natural critical on him, which is good in the age of harpoons and I'll Show You The Dark Side, and he can provide a reroll boost for friends.

Hobbie is another classic build.

Sperado - As a new pilot, no-one has any practical experience, but as someone whose ability is flipping S-foils at will, the S-foils card makes sense. Veteran Instincts is also good as you're essentially wanting access to repositioning tricks. Most of the time you'll want to be in attack mode because red dice, but situationally closing the foils helps. Theoretically, you can talon roll, then next turn close the foils, pull a speed 2 bank, boost with the astromech, flip them back, and focus, and come out of your talon roll in a much, much faster speed than anyone has a right to expect.

Trying to understand how this works - BB8 is a barrel roll when a green is revealed. Tenza would need a boost + stress to get his evade right?

I got it wrong, for what ever reason, I had it in my mind that BB-8 was either Barrel Roll or Boosted. (Maybe confusion with Sabine and/or the Flight Assist Astromech? IDK.) So Intensity and an FAA would work better as a hit and run? Or I can possibly pull an extra point from Tarn and give him an R7 astromech and give Leevan Tenza R7-T1 and Intensity. (Or maybe the mysterious unrevealed pilot can replace one of them?) Overall I would hate to give up M9-G8 ...

I'd forget about juke (it's really not as good as it seems, much as I love it on omega leader and pre-errata x7 Vessery), go for Wired or something instead (or crackshot). Now you get your r7-t1

gotta say, though, generally not at all a fan of Hobbie. Just doesn't seem that amazing, since he's only special when he red-moves (which is now 3 maneuvers at least, but still not good). Also not big on Kullbee not packing full mods at any given time.

might want to consider just going with an FAA refit rookie (20 points) and Predator FAA Wedge (30 points)

Edit: right, "named xwings"

The rookie's called "Steve"

A refit Garven Dreis with FAA & IA is another 25 point option, although I actually like the idea of talon rolling, target locking and then taking focus all in one turn. I get it might not happen a lot in practice but it would be super fun when it did! :)

I would pay FFG to give Hobbies an EPT. "Stay on Target" was built for him and the Targeting Astromech.

Yeah - that would be awesome :)

Trying to think if you could do something with R2-D6 to get the EPT and then some other mechanism to get the TL (Dutch?) but you'd still lose the action due to timing. :(

How about that?

I almost want Crack Shot or Cool Hand on Leevan. Wired, statistically speaking, doesn't accomplish much defensively (a quarter of a hit dodged per attack... better than nothing), and the TL from R7-T1 obviates Wired offensively. However, adding a Focus to go with the TL goes a long way, but an opponent could dodge out of arc, potentially wasting a 1-time-use Elite upgrade. Crack Shot can't be wasted unless you die.

Heck, I'd consider Crack Shot on Kullbee, too. PS 9 seems good to jump Miranda, though.

Leevan reliably has stress, so I thought a card that would capitalize on that would be good. I can have the wings open and still boost+TL, then get an Evade and have a reroll for defense and offense. If I need to reroll one doe, great, I'll keep the TL, if not, I'll use it. That was the idea, anyhow.

Kulbee and Crack shot - yeah, maybe. Would keep the X-Wings more together. I'm not sure in the current meta whether getting the jump on PS8 and below (and potentially PS9, depending in initative) is worth more than a guaranteed damage. Hm. Will need to try both approaches, I'll guess.

I dont get that reasoning. Leevan triggers on a Boost, Targetmech triggers on a Red move.

How are you pulling a Red then boosting?

The Targeting Mech is on Hobbie, not Leevan. Leevan has R7-T1.

Honestly I'm fairly a fan of the first list. The only thing I would do it give BB to Kulbee and FAA to Leevan, then give Leevan Wired.
