New army expansion

By Elberon, in Battlelore

I was thinking the same thing. I own three goblin archers (through trading with friends that also owned core sets). I am a little nervous that the all goblin army will still be slightly lacking. One archer is definitely not enough!

Maybe the Goblins are not supposed to have good archers. They do have Slingers and Ostrich Riders though. gui%C3%B1o.gif

I'd really like to have complete and distinct armies to play than mercenaries or armies that have the same array of units and just a different ability to differentiate them. If the Goblin army is not supposed to have good archers, that's fine by me.

I wouldn't like it if every army has Cavalry, Archers and Infantry in the same quality and/or analogy.

Doesn´t seem like the Ostrich Riders are being reprinted though, the Marauders expansion is just listed as "not availible" while the Skirmishers (with the slingers) is listed as "not yet availible".

While I would love to hear something "official" about what the general plans for BattleLore are, waiting to see what the make-up of the Call to Arms deployment cards for the Goblins are to get more clues.

I don't know what "Not Available Yet" in conjunction with "In Development" (for a reprint? - does this mean they are just still scheduling production, changing the box a little, or completely altering the contents?) as opposed to "Not Available" and no mention of it on the Upcoming Products and Reprints page.

Well in case anyone "cares" - I did happen to see a base Battlelore set in a game store today. (Todd - in the bigger town NORTH of you <G>) And a few of the other older expansions (Epic and I think Call of Arms).

Yeah, sure would be nice to know what those deployment decks are. I had created some of my own for a tourny that sadly never went off! :(

There are a couple of nice game shops to the north - I've been meaning to check out the Haunted Game Cafe for a few months now...

Ditto, my friend. Also Black and Read has a good number of the expansion still (no 100 years war though).

I would like to read someting about the general plans for BattleLore are. This new army expension seem to be $$$$ I am a little nervous that the all goblin army will still be slightly lacking of archery....

I suspect that the details of the Call to Arms Deployment cards included in Horrific Horde will be divulged in the weeks prior to its release (would be a good way to generate some buzz), but I also won't be surprised if they aren't known until it is released.

I too would love to hear about the overarching plans with BattleLore. Is Horrific Horde it? (I don't think so.) Are the Dwarves and Humans getting the Goblin treatment and then that is it? (I hope not.) Are the Dwarves and Humans getting the Goblin treatment and then additional races will be "big box, complete army" expansions? (I hope so corazon.gif ) Campaigns? (I hope so gran_risa.gif ) Something altogether different?

This is kinda where DoW dropped the ball with the game, not being transparent enough in some respects with the direction the game was taking. As long as the Horrific Horde does bring satisfactory closure to the Goblin army and then Dwarves and Humans receive the like, I'll be happy - but it would be nice to have insight into what the big picture plans are for the game, even if it is a grim picture ;)

Todd, read your email I sent you! :)

I had read that - and should've responded to you, but didn't want to tempt you to say more than you could lol

Anyway, I fully expect the Dwarves and Humans to get their own CtA decks. Beyond that, wait and see, same as the past 3+ years ;)

Still, there are some questions to be answered as to the make up of the CtA decks for the gobbos, scortez's question about the ranged units one in the forefront of my mind...

The Horrific Horde is being solicited for order in May's Game Trade/ Diamond Previews.

hard to know if you got the email if you didn't respond, no? :) Plus there are numerous threads here, etc etc etc.

Plus we need to hook up with now the weather getting better..forgot what store you said you go to too..so email so I can update my list since I'm out of "woods" up here (been so use to Denver...boy, talk about some shock).

If someone ( a few posts up) was referring to the Haunted Cafe in Fort Collins, CO, then yeah, that is very nice store..nice owner too. :)

It is almost always considerably cheaper to use existing moulds than to redesign and make new ones. There may be unusual exceptions to this - perhaps if the original mould was badly conceived.

New moulds need to produce many castings to pay themselves off. Thats why you pay a lot for creatures/dragons - they weren't sure about the fan base so they covered the mould costs by charging more per unit. Unfortunately, the higher price can also reduce the volume of sales (which appears to have happened for dragons and creatures given the response seen on this and other websites.)

Not such a bad move for Creatures expansion when you consider only the Hydra was new...
