As an excercise in game design, I'm looking at the 10 least popular ships in the game right now (skipping the Uwing, which has an official fix underway) and suggesting fixes.
#53: G1A: The original "scum Bwing," with feature creep over the B, but lacking the meta twist that is Ten Numb. While it's tempting to just give it Scurrg-level health and call it a day, fixes generally try to be more interesting than that. The ship is owned by a mystical bounty hunter, and the elite generic is the same group of mystics- a free slotless long range (outside range 2) Intel Agent might be an interesting approach.
#52: Scum Ywing. (Rebel y is #28) Scum Ywings were amazing when TLT was dominating, with 3 speed greens. Now Rebels have the advantage with a broad selection of rebel astromechs adding mobility to the aging craft. Any new Trashromech would have to pay attention to how it buffs the Scurrg (vs geinus), Kimogilla, or ...uh, that's it. Kimogilla is sitting at 22 as a reload-capable missileboat. Perhaps an inverted flight astromech, like a generic R7-T1 that auto triggers intsead of the extra token?
#51: Imperial Firespray (Scum firespray is 42) The pilots are the big separater here- the scum pilots are simply better, across the board. Neither is in an amazing position overall, so adding Barrel roll to the action bar isnt going to be too much, but the Imperials also need something to catch up with scum pilots and scum crew. Making Linked Battery "Small ship OR Imperial only" would give them something over the scum- Making the firespray count as a small ship for upgrades would have the same effect, but make Linked Battery available to Scum Kath, who is probably a big reason for the "no large ships" limitation in the first place. A price reduction may be another option. a -3 discount lets mando mercs run triple crackshot, but Bounty Hunters can run... I dunno, Recon spec?
#50: Tie Interceptor: I feel like the solution here has been known for half a dozen waves and noone's had the balls to suggest it: Aturi Cluster Elite- At the start of activation, you may perform a free focus action. PS9 soontier is not the threat he once was with PS10 missileboats flying around, and PS11 soontier lacks the signature boost/barrel roll that made the tie interceptor so meta-defining under palp. An EPT for those pilots that do not have one would be a big help, too- Kir Kanos in particular has an amazing ability crippled by lack of action economy.
#49: Awing: Tone Deaf early "fixes"crippled the Awing as a missile carrier. Replacing Chardan with "Extended missile bay, Limited, -2 points, Add 2 missile slots to your upgrade bar, you may not equip Chardan refit" would give new life as a procketboat or as the only rebel UGR user, balancing out it's 2 die primary with other options. Also, Quality of life would give Gemner and Arvel EPTs too.
#48: Scum Z95 (rebel Z is 38): Woes of the 2 die primary. The Rebel Z may be ahead only because of how popular rebels are right now, as the scum Z has harpoon+scavanger crane. I'm afraid to touch this one.
#47: Tie Fighter: Well known filler ship that used to be the standard for jousting value. I'm tempted to give them an extra hull and watch the QQ roll in from people who cant handle striker-health 12 point ships, but an extra focus token each turn would play with the tie fighter abilities better. Make the Intercepter's Aturi Cluster Elite card TIE only, and make it only work with shields down, and you're good.
#46: Upsilon Shuttle: Double tech, double crew and a system, this one is just waiting for the right upgrade cards and meta calls. I'm not touching it.
#45: Tie Aggressor: With only 1 shield it would benifit a bit from the imperial ACE title. As a TLT boat with native barrel roll, that may be all it needs.
#44: Tie Phantom: Oh tie phantom. Spoiled by ACD, it just cant compete with the PS11 meta. If only submarine-style Stygium Particle Accelerator builds were worth taking... If Stygium granted a Reinforce token instead of an evade action, it would make killing a phantom doing a decloak/cloak chain darn near impossible, but seeing as it cannot attack, either, that's still a reasonable trade.
Alright, hit me. I can take it.
