So these two snowtroopers slowly walk into a bar....

They actually move faster in practice than stormtroopers.

Because they move twice at range 1 and aren't slowed by terrain, while still able to shoot (not like there's any point in shooting with white dice).

They are slower than Stormtroopers.

They are more mobile than Stormtroopers.

Why are they 12pts though? I thought at 10pts each the cheaper cost made some kind of sense but the more expensive figures make no sense. Imperial armies are outnumbered all the time as it is

Because on an individual basis, excluding heavy weapons, their move-move-shoot utility is a greater distance than Stormtroopers.

So they are “better”.

Hoping to get in a good 800 point match sometime so I can see if this is an issue or not. On 3x3 Vader has been just fine, so I can’t imagine snowtroopers would be worse at it.

Maybe 6x3 it’s too slow? Not sure.

Vader is a lot trickier on a 6x3 because the prey has more room to move. Positioning and timing become critical.

However, Vader wants to get into melee. Snowtroopers are either laying suppressive fire while moving from range 3, or unloading a flamethrower and a bunch of grenades at range 1. So speed 1 will be a lot less of a problem for snowtroopers.
