800 pt: Imperial Stormtrooper /spam/

By knapsen, in Army Building

Hello everybody,

I'm actually very new to the game and I just want to know, what you think about a Stormtrooper /spam/ list. With this list I get a lot of boxes (36) and spiking a lot of dices (30 white and 12 red) only with the Stormtrooper. Also I'm not counting that much on luck, when drawing the order tokens. Vader is bonkers with Saber Throw and his red dices. General Veers supports any as much Stormtrooper as possbile.

You have two pushes?
I don't know how enjoyable fighting this would actually be.

You could give grenades to one of your squads so it gets black dice to throw at the opponent I think with the points you have left.
You don't need commanding presence with how your dice pool is made since you'll always have your choices. That's two other squads with grenades.

You can't have 2 push btw.
As above, I would look at doing a few concussion grenades for those rebels sitting behind cover dodging over and over.
Not sure you need esteemed leader or commanding presence tbh.

Nevermind I got Assault and Ambush mixed up.

Move along nothing to see here.

You're actually right. I made some mistakes with the Commands. But I think it is not the key question for this lists. The question is more, does this list open also big targets or is it only a pillow fist?

Point for point bikes are amazing if you learn to use them right, troopers with DLT are great but not at the cost of the biker gold

Well, you have lots of impact 1 red dice, so it should be decent against AT-RTs.
However, as I suggested, get rid of commanding presence and add three squads with grenades (impact or concussion or a mix) and you'll have better firepower against most things.

I made a dice study again, I haven't seen that there are two bikes for 90 points. So I think the bikes also really worth it!

With your input I come down to this list:

800/800
Darth Vader 200
- Saber Throw, Force Reflexes,
General Veers 80
Stormtroopers 44
- DLT-19 Stormtrooper, Stormtrooper,
Stormtroopers 44
- DLT-19 Stormtrooper, Stormtrooper,
Stormtroopers 44
- DLT-19 Stormtrooper, Stormtrooper, Concussion Grenades,
Stormtroopers 44
- DLT-19 Stormtrooper, Stormtrooper, Concussion Grenades,
Stormtroopers 44
- DLT-19 Stormtrooper, Stormtrooper,
74-Z Speeder Bikes 90
Commands:
- Assault, Maximum Firepower, Imperial Discipline, Push, Evasive Maneuvers, Ambush, Standing Orders

Quick question: DO you think vader actually brings something to the table for your army?

Because I wonder if you wouldn't think about getting rid of him to get two more bike units, one of which would have long range com links. Would synergise a lot more with Veers and stay in your "spam" philosophy.

I also thought about this, but his 6 red dice (w/ impact:3 and pierce:3) at 1-2 range sounds very nice. Especially with Deflect, Immune:Pierce and Force Reflexes his defensiv skills are very stable at a red dice.

Maybe later I'll try with 4 more bikes instead of him.

When he throws his sabre, it's only 3 red dice.

Don't get me wrong, he's a powerhouse, no joke. But I think two other bikes would synergise a lot better with veers, especially since now you're a lot less orders efficient since you introduced an other variable (bikes). If you basically had three pools (Bikes x3, troopers x5, 1 general) it'll still be very easy to do exactly what you want to do.

Also, veers has that neat command that nukes a single target while mitigating its cover and evasive manoeuvers for your bikes.

How do you mitigate cover? It stops deflect, not cover ..

That's why I say two hits on average. Will do the actual math later...
