Initiation games - Core box

Hey guys,

I plan to make a couple of initiation games to my friend to convert them to the Dark Side of Legion.

I wanted to know on your pov, using only the units in the core box, what would be the best armies, balanced and to test a bit of everything.

I plan to play on 120x90, and around 400-450pts.

Well, you should start by building the rebels (they have a bit less points available).

Luke with jedi mind tricks and force reflexes (180 points)

Rebel troopers x2 with additional trooper and Z-6 (for initiation games, rolling lots of dice is fun) (144 points)

AT-RT with rotary blaster (85 points)

409 points

Darth vader with force choke (Choke is very thematic and source of endless memes). 205 points

Speeder Bikes: 90 points

Storm troopers with DLT-19 (68 points)

Storm troopers with impact grenades (49 points)

412 points

With this, you will have good lists. The rebels will be able to try some suppression things to learn the importance of it, and throw lots of dice.
The imperial player on the other hand will have lots of anti-armour to fight the AT-RT, play with mobility, and learn that they have to upgrade their stormtroopers because the white die won't win them games.

Don't hesitate to tell the imperial player to send his storm troopers with grenades close to the enemy so they can finally throw black dice.

Would you use Luke/Vador’s Command Cards in such game?

I think with so few points it`'s better without the special commander cards. Because in this scenario Vader will be crushed by Luke with his cards and in the most cases a dead hero is a game over when you play with under 600 points .
