My Light cover terrain (updated)

By That Blasted Samophlange, in Star Wars: Legion

First off, I think we should have a seperate forum for terrain. It is a seperate entity to painting.

But here is my first attempt at some alien terrain - tried to go different than Tattooine and Endor.

Looks very alien world indeed. Should make for an interesting table that is different than most.

Very cool. It looks like a swamp type terrain. Dagobah perhaps? Always thought that would make a cool table but couldn't see a reason to battle over Dagobah unless the Empire found a precious metal/mineral worth keeping all to themselves.

Gotta be honest, at first glance it reminds me of Big League Chew!

Nice work.

I tend just to use different coloured Lichen which comes in packets and is very cheap

Image result for wargame lichen

Thanks!

As soon as they dry, I have some dried out poppy husks to intersperse with them.

@C3POFETT Hah! To the big league chew thing.. I didn't see that before, and now my terrain is ruined for me. :P

The first step was making sure I could base the items, I plan on painting some highlights and filling out the gaps on the base.

The overall idea was to make my own world (from an old RPG campaign) rather than doing existing worlds.

The “jellyfish” are supposed some type of wheat/tuber/fungus type food crop.

Your terrain looks great. It is extremely unique and your table will really stand out. Nice how you re-purposed one thing to make something otherworldly. Going with something like this I myself would stay away from traditional color terrains. I would stay outside the box for this entire table.

Sorry about the Big League Chew comment. I look forward to seeing where this table goes from here because seeing your picture brought an immediate wow factor to the possibilities.

Good Luck with your vision and keep posting.

what are the jellyfish from? Poppy Husks? where do you get such things? I think they look fantastic.

Will you be painting your terrain & figs, so there's more variation in color?

Thanks! The jellyfish are from a company called Safari Ltd. Specifically the Good luck jellyfish. These are bought in bulk from the company and stores sell them indivdually. I found a bunch a while a go.

As to the poppy husks, we have poppies in our garden. At the end of the season, the leaves fall off and the main bulb dries out so the seeds could fall out. I simply took a bunch, shook out the seeds, and cut off the bulb, which dries out. They can be fragile, but I can get replacements every year.

I am planning on painting, but as the last time I painted minis as 15 years ago, my paints all dried up a while ago. My meager budget can't afford paints yet. The only reason I even have Legion is I sold a bunch of RPG books, Warhammer 40k orks, and Battlefleet gothic minis from yester year.

In fact my one squad of rebels will be Pantoran volunteers.

As to the terrain, I plan on painting blues and purples (maybe some reds) into the stalks, and If I can, find some purple flocking for grass - not all planets have chlorophyll. :P

No worries about the big league chew thing. It was funny. I really just wanted something different.

I’m all about reusing existing materials in new ways. Heck, every starship in the original movies was a hodge podge and I was given a couple dozen model kits so, at some point I will have buildings with WWII greebles.

Looks very Felucian to me. Add some giant mushrooms and rancor spoor & you're in business!

The Empire could be hunting Jedi - 'cause you never know where they might hide out. Or following a lead on a lone X-Wing in the vicinity.

Rebels are simply looking to foil any S&D mission the Empire is undertaking - 'cause, you know, they're real prats like that.

Sadly the glue is still drying on some, but here is an example of the poppy husk I mentioned.

Yep. Those spore pods are going to burst open and only the denizens of Cobra-La are going to be safe...

Yuuzhan Vong army confirmed! because I would play a Cobra-La themed Yuuzhan Vong army.. and I don't even like the vong.
