Lord Inquisitor or Inquisitor Lord

By JBL, in Dark Heresy

I just wondered, is there any differences between a Lord Inquisitor and an Inquisitor Lord? Could a Lord Inquisitor be the inquisitorial rank and an Inquisitor Lord just be a nobleborn Inquisitor?

Anybody know, and what do you think?

Perhaps Lord Inquisitor is how you address an Inquisitor Lord (or any inquisitor if your found of not being on fire a lot)?

I tend to use a bunch of mainly made up titles:

Inquisitor Lord
Lord Inquisitor
High Inquisitor
High Inquisitor Lord
Inquisitrix

Depends what the story needs. My group's Inquisitor is Lord Inquisitor Quintus Dyne, and he reports to High Inquisitor Lord Ashish Khallid. Just add High or Lord or whatever to the starts and ends of things and it works. :)

lord inquisitor would be a formal opening to a greeting of any inquisitor, lord or otherwise "greetings my lord inquisitor, i appreciate your blahblahblah"

in the feudal order of 40k an inquisitor can tell any govenor to eat his own pistol, and is therefore the superior to anyone short of a Warmaster (only answers to the High Lords of Terra); a space marine chapter (they are independent for the most part, with varying degrees of tolerance for the inquisition); the High Lords of Terra, and Inquisitor lords

an Inquisitor Lord is, roughly speaking, in charge of any inquisitor whom is not also a lord. an Inquisitor Lord (of which there are multiple in most sectors, including the Calixis sector) is there to pass judgements in case of a dennunciation trial, calls meetings of the conclave, and can command the chambers militant (noteably something that a normal inquisitor cannot do).

note, no one without first getting Forbidden Lore (Inquisition or the various Ordos) has any idea there is even a differance.

How come that both Zerbe and Caiden are entitled Lord Inquisitors?

Well, there are two versions. Any Inquisitor can be called a Lord Inquisitor, as I see it. It's a term or respect, like Lord Captain in Rogue Trader.

Inquisitor Lord is the only real distinction in rank between Inquisitors. It's more of a recognition of the status an Inquisitor has already gained rather than a promotion though. Their official powers are in few areas greater (3 Inquisitors or one Inquisitor Lord are needed to raise someone to Inquisitor), the main thing is influence.

If an Inquisitor is placed in charge of something major, like the Tyrantine Cabal for Zerbe and the Calixian Conclave for Caidin, they're then almost certainly a Inquisitor Lord.
