Initiative One Episode 11

By FranquesEnbiens, in Runewars Miniatures Game

The long wait is over...Episode 11: What the Heck is a Dimoran is here! We can finally break the silence on our announcement, and then we get in to a discussion about tournament terrain. We've never used the tournament rules before, so we are obviously experts. Consider this episode part 1 (speculation), and we'll revisit it again when we've tried it in our May tournament.

So I looked at some of what you guys said. One of the comments that sounded right didn’t quite click n my head.

If you are 1st player all three rounds with the current deploykents, you place 3 Defensive and 3 Dangerous over three games. If you are second all three games, you place 2 Defensive and just 1 Dangerous.

So an army that expects to go second player most games actually needs to focus more on the Defensive side (top half) if the deployment cards.

I’m working through some of the “if you bring a 6 and three 0 capacity, how often does that 6 actually turn up?” I will post results if I ever finish

Yeah I was having similar thoughts @Church14 , this is a thought experiment that needs to be worked through. Speaking for myself I do consider terrain planning an essential part of my list building. While variable, there are choices you can make that can help your army, likewise choose unwisely and you could end up in a tactical situation you'd rather not face.

Ex: If playing short edge to short edge as a deployment possibility a capacity 6 piece of terrain sure blocks a lot of space.....

Not always. You'll contribute those terrain pieces to the pool, but that doesn't mean that you'll always be placing those. Once all the terrain is contributed to the pool, the 1st player can pick any of them to place.

Ah... fair. I meant adding them to the pool but said place. You are right to correct that
