What Empire list to go with?

I've been looking at 2 lists.

The Veers list will help with vehicles with the heavy weapons.

Vader List has less upgrades, but Vader can do some major damage if used right.

Vader and ATST are very hard to successfully run together right now, so I would say between the two I would run the later list.

However, to improve the later list, I would make a few changes to make it stronger.

Keep in mind your list is currently at 790/800 from what I can tell.

  • HH-12s are kind of useless in Imperial armies currently, because there is already so much Impact on Imperial units. Bikes have Impact 1. ATSTs have Impact 3. DLTs have Impact 1. You really don't need the HH-12s, and DLTs provide a ton more versatility. Longer range, and no Cumbersome. DLTs are also cheaper, which is excellent. (20 points saved)
  • Targeting Scopes are kind of "meh" on Stormtroopers. They ALREADY have Precise 1, meaning when they use an Aim token they are ALREADY rerolling 3. There will be very few chances to reroll 4 dice when you only have, at most, 6 units. (18 points saved)
  • Personally, I think your ATST has a bunch of points on it, and the spread isn't my preference. I wouldn't use Weiss unless you can use all 4 weapons... but you don't. ATST is kind of a preference thing at the moment but I've had a ton of luck with the Grenade Launcher and the Mortar. At long range you can use main gun + Mortar. At short range, you can use main gun + grenade. It also saves you (20 points saved)

If you make all of the above changes, that brings your list down to 732 points. You can add a 4th DLT squad without an extra trooper, which is very good. That brings you to 800/800. If I were you though, my last move would be to strip the two cards from Veers and bulk up that 4th Stormtrooper squad. Add the extra trooper, and I think you've got a pretty strong list.

Obviously all of that has to do with preference and strategy, but those are my suggestions. Cheers!

And just as a note (since I see in both your list you don't value them too much) DLTs right now are considered one of, if not the, strongest unit in the game in terms of points versus Impact.

Lose the Targeting Scopes on veers, they don't do anything as he already has precise 1 and rolls 3 dice. You can't reroll 4 when you only roll 3.

instead, either take the Environmental Gear or Grappling Hooks to help his movement.

Better. I'm still of the mind that you have a boatload of really upgraded units, when the rule of thumb based on the current meta is to have as many activations as you can muster.

One point I'll make though is I really think your Long-Range Comms on your ATST is a waste. You normally want to have Veers close to your ATST because of his aim token distribution - it massively increases the effectiveness of your ATST. I think if it is out of range 3 of Veers you're really doing something odd.

I would still run that list with 4 groups of Troopers, given that most objectives for winning required Troopers to activate. But its your list! Main thing is to have fun with it!

Haha fair enough! In that case, I hope you dominate with them!

Just a naked at-st gets work done and can save you a lot of points. That said I really do want to run it fully loaded and see how awesome it does. So please after you play let us know how it went!
