Stormies are usually flat colors (black or white) with slight deviation/flare for psychological purposes, they're more obvious and scary that way.
Post-Endor in both canons, even basic Stormtroopers started employing things like painting normal Stormtrooper armor in woodland patterns once the Emperor was no longer the ultimate authority and they could become Reasonable Troopers. Some day I hope to have an array of troopers painted in every Metal Gear Solid camo pattern.
just don't get them, it's not like they bring much to the table, at least fleet troopers have shortranged attacks but a lot of them compared to Rebel troopers.

In small units that won't have a chance to aim, they're more efficient than Stormtroopers. They also handle difficult terrain well. They don't have a gun to match the DLT, but if you just want cheap bodies to advance on an objective while firing, snowtroopers work better (2 speed one moves equals one speed 3 move).
...stormies are always amazing......(and flamethrower are for the close area weapon without direct fires...such as fires into bunkers....bwa-ha-ha)...

Difficult Terrain reduces your speed by 1 to 1. As the Snow troopers only have 1 move speed, difficult terrain doesn't affect them. When you add their Steady keyword, they can do 2 speed 1 moves over difficult terrain and then fire on an enemy.
A 2 speed 1 moves actually go further than 1 speed 2 move, so the "Slow Advancement" of the Snowtroopers covers more ground than your opponent(s) might suspect.
In addition, due to their Steady keyword, the Ion Snowtrooper can actually fire every turn with the right set-up. If the Rapid Reinforcements condition card is selected, you could drop your Ion unit behind the enemy's armour, move twice into close range and fire. Then ,on the next turn, reload as your first action then move and fire it again.
Additionally, if they hide behind cover with the Flametrooper and Concussion(?) Grenades, they can move out of cover, unload your arsenal into an enemy unit, then move back into cover again.
They're basically a unit designed to calmly stroll up to an objective whilst firing every turn at anything that enters range, sit on the objective, then move onto the next one, rinsing and repeating until the game ends.

Flamethrower + Concussion Grenades = ultra dead enemy unit.

There's almost no reason not to use Impact Grenades here.

I know that there's two types of grenades but I cannot remember which does which.
I thought that Impact Grenades just gave the Impact keyword...

Having everything ignore cover?

Everything already ignores cover because the flamethrower adds the Blast keyword to the attack as a whole, not just to the dice provided by the flamethrower.
The only reason to mix Concussion and Flamethrower is if you want to try and shoot two different units at RNG 1 that are in cover. Also, technically if you're worried about Vader choking the flamethrower guy I guess.

Keywords apply to the dice pool.
....when i think of FLAMETHROWER....i am reminded of the movie Saving Private Ryan; and the using of the flamethrower on the bunker on the beach....
Caved in and ordered 2 packs...
Why not get two? One for snow days and one for everything else.

The Vader Security Force ones would look cool. Not sure if the ESB video game is canon or if anyone cares.

Id love to paint them with snow, dont care about the table but I want them to match my other stuff. Only way id not do that is if I was buying a whole Rebel and Imperial Hoth army.....
if you want them to look like guys from the movies. base them on snow and do an accurate paint job.
when modeling it's completely ok to treat the game as an afterthought. when playing it is also ok to treat the molding as an afterthought.
or you could just buy a mat with snow printed on it

Right? I saw that and was 'okay, there's my paint job!'.
I was just rewatching TLJ yesterday and I noticed that in the final scenes when the First Order has entered the Rebel bunker, that the stormtroopers we see on the screen are VERY reminiscent of the snowtroopers on Hoth. Lending credence to the theory that they are indeed "hazardous environment" troops rather than just cold weather troops.
They were used in the Last Jedi, Environmental troopers for me.
