IT'S HAPPENING (yay flesh ripper article)

By Panzerninja, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Remember the big debate about whether dead sprint affects the 'obligatory march' or the dial one? Well in the article, it's the dial one. Articles have been wrong before, but this certainly renews the debate in my mind since I seem to remember reaching the opposite conclusion.

Yeah I'm not sure the article is correct on this one. It also doesn't looked changed since the last time it was up. So I wonder what *is* correct?

I never base any ruling on an article. Although if their obligatory move is inconvenient for me, I'll just start it with the template at the back of the tray like in the picture.

It's great to see a Runewars article though, I hope they keep them coming!

Why are they measuring the movement from the back?

In armada, there is at least one mistake in every article image.

I guess they have the same marketing team working on these ones :D

Cool. Progress.

The weird part is that I am so used to running a mishmash swarm of everything that I don’t know what I would even run with more figures and dials.

As for Dead Sprint, I was going to say something about using the article’s interpretation. Then I read it again and looked at the image and now put no faith in that interpretation. I now want to go and measure out what differences it would make to have it be on the forced march or the dial march.

It all started with X-wing. lol

They had the obligatory "where's the mistake?" before Armada came out. lol

Feeding Frenzy is missing...

Who is hoping that card got a rewrite?

I had the exact same thought!

Huh, FFG seems to have misspelled “snowtroopers”.

”flesh rippers” is not a spelling I am familiar with.

very strange.

On the subject of legion... who would win in a fight? Snow troopers or fleshrippers?

Not Snowtroopers. Sandtrooper sometimes gets spelled Flesh Ripper. The name comes from the deleted scene in A New Hope where they show why Lars’ and Beru’s bones have no meat on them. Lucas decided to cut it

Depends on if the Flesh Rippers come equipped with the “Plot Armour” upgrade. Otherwise “only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise”

Gah! I got so excited until that last part where it says "Daqan Only". Guess the Snowtroopers win this round.

Not to rub salt in an open wound on this one, but I can still kill that unit with Ravos

... and Shield of Margath, Maegan, Kari, Flesh Rippers, Kethra, Carrion Lancers, Ardus, Spearmen, Leonx, Aliana...

I might have missed a few

I thought that too, but all the models look infinitely better in real life. There's just something about the official paint jobs that make the models look a bit silly. They also customize up really good.

I can kind of see where you're coming from with the current design, but I do have to disagree that Flesh Rippers are in some way derrivatives from xenomorphs and genestealers. The Flesh Ripper has existed for several years, at least since 2010, and it hasn't always looked like these ones do in Runewars Miniatures Game. Take a look at the thread below and explore how their aesthetic has changed through the years. I think you'll be hard-pressed to say that some of the earlier designs look like genestealers.

Myself and all the other guys in my game group thinks the miniatures looks great! Especially considering they are somewhere in the vicinity of half the price (seen over an army) of GW. But thanks for pooping here though ;)

In all fairness to Darth Evil, the Spined Thresher was pretty bad looking. I changed almost everything about him before I painted him. But things like the Scions or the Rune Golems aren't human and they look SWEET!

But I also think it's worth noting that the Spined Thresher concept art is pretty rad (as in awesome, not a typo). The trouble was the implementation into the 3D model.
