So, none of the careers get Verse. Who gets that?

Character that pick up the Bard talent I would guess. That is a tier 2 talent that makes Verse a career skill.

I think the Envoy was meant to have the VERSE skill as part if its background. It references the gift of song as part of its description AND can start with an instrument.

I don't think it's a mistake the Envoy doesn't get Verse. That Career is designed to be useful either as a bard or as a standard fantasy noble. There's no bard Career, but the idea is that you pick one of the others and then pick up the Bard talent.

Starting Career Skills are also editable, as long as the GM agrees. The only rule is to make sure that the skill set is diverse, so the player has to rely on more than 2 Attributes. Our campaign has combined elements of Envoy and Primalist to make a traveling story-teller that can survive and thrive anywhere.
