WTF R5-TK

By Sasebo75, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Can anyone explain to me why FFG made R5-TK? Did I miss an article to which they explained the benefit of the ability?

Anthony

It's 0 points, so idk what you were expecting

Guess you just gonna have to wait for scum Quickdraw or any ability that triggers when damaged (ala wulfwarro), which case you'll put it on a TLT and use only its primary for friendly fire to minimize the damage

For now, I guess you can load up a bunch of suicide deadman's Zs and fling assault missiles/poons at em

Bonus points if you're crazy enough to load r5-tk on trajectory simulator bombs + harpoon nym for extra "**** my own ships" nonsense

Will probably make Palp aces cry

Targeting a friendly ship with Scrambler Missiles would work, too.

  • Triggering an 'after you perform an attack that hits/misses' trigger
    • Operations Specialist
    • Ion Torpedoes
    • Scrambler Missiles
    • Assault Missiles
    • Harpoon Missiles
    • Laetin A'Shera
    • Saturation Salvo
  • Triggering an 'after a ship is destroyed' trigger on a friendly ship
    • Harpooned! condition
    • Dead Man's Switch
    • HotR Chewbacca
    • Scavenger Crane
  • Generating a token on a friendly ship that can then transfer it to an enemy ship
    • Ion token and ion dischargers
    • Stress token and 4-LOM
  • To kill a target your opponent is lining up on before they can fire, denying them the shot and hence any "after you perform an attack" trigger
    • Whisper
    • Advanced Cloaking Device
    • IG-88A
  • To trigger an 'after you are attacked/hit/damaged' trigger on a friendly ship
    • Wulfwarro
    • Dengar (missing with the revenge shot, then firing again with gunner?)

R5-TK would allow you to target a friendly with a tractor beam, too.

problem with T-beam:

note: the opposing player chooses how to move small ship hit by the token, not the one who fired the t-beam necessarily

this came up when good Sir Plutt was released and seemed like an awesome bit of self-bump utility, but alas
