Sanctum of Twilight: Got it!

By Phoenix_FFG, in Mansions of Madness

I have it. Very excited.

Non-spoilers:

Lily Chen and Charlie Kane are fantastic looking miniatures.

Cards and tiles are great.

There's 2 monster figures/tiles/bases (not four).

The box is sadly that same weak cereal box card like the recurring Nightmares and Suppressed Memories boxes. It's the same dimensions as the small box Beyond the Threshold, but not that same sturdy sort of box. If you have some form of collector's OCD, this will probably set it off.

What?!
Thanks for the heads up. I would be slightly irritated to learn this after the purchase.
I hope they saved a substantial amount of money on this. I wouldn't want to be this disappointed just for a few pennies.

It's ok, they'll start selling the DLC in blister packs of tokens soon. So be content with your cardboard!

Great to hear, looking forward to painting the figures! :)

I are jelly! My FLGS is still waiting on their copies to show up.

I don't collect the boxes or anything like that, so I'm okay with it being weak cardboard; I'll be trashing it anyway. In fact, once I have this in my hand I plan to revamp my current custom-built foamcore insert so that it spreads across the core box and the Streets of Arkham box. (Will post photos after doing so.) Pretty sure I can comfortably fit everything in both.

Mine is sitting in SL while I wait for other products to release.

It’s a little disappointing to hear that at a $30 price point, not only has the box quality been degraded, but we only get a total of 4 minis and just a few bits of paper and cardboard. However, that seems par for the course with the MoM 2e product releases thus far and lines up with Asmodee’s continued drive to maximize profit margins at all costs.

Anyway, I digress. Still looking forward to adding this one to the collection.

I was happly with the box, easy to throw out.. I agonize over which ones to keep. I never need them all. There wasn't machine the box. It could have been an envelope and a clamshell for the minis.

For me, that second little box was going to be the final part of my future-proof storage solution - so it's only my expectation that is short, not FFG's (they have every right to package as they please). :)

The new minis, especially the Investigators (and their stats/abilities), some of the new cards, and the 2 new scenarios certainly are fantastic.

Just got my copy tonight, I'm also pretty disappointed by the box. I hope the new scenarios are really in-depth so i can forget about the box but I think I'd like to just see extra downloadable content using existing components.

Yup DLC is what I want to. I don't need more statuses and I don't need more monsters I've got TONS...

Received my copy today! :) Has anyone had the chance to play any of the scenario's? I'm curious how you would rank them and which one was the most fun :)

I've only played the Twilight Diadem. It as pretty straight-forward. I wouldn't say that it is all that hard, though it is long. I think my group's make-up and playstyle helped with this one though, so maybe it's harder than I think. I believe we got the 'best' ending.

I haven't played the 2nd one yet though.

Cool! How would you compare the fun/suspense factor in regard to the other scenarios? Is it a step-up? Or are we getting more of the same?

Hmm. Well, it was fun, but my plays of the game are pretty few and far between nowadays. In retrospect I think it was kind of same-y (which isn't bad), but I wasn't terribly surprised by the story structure. It did seem to have a nice mix of required abilities from the investigators, meaning that it was not overly reliant on fighting or puzzles and blended them pretty well. There were a couple surprises that could have been really nasty, and a couple tactical things you can take advantage of, but only if you can either predict what is to come (we did) or replay with knowledge about the objectives of the scenario.

In case you're curious, we played a 3 player game as Lily Chen, Diana Stanley, and Darrel Simmons.

Also, just wanted to mention that none of us gained access to any kind of restraint token placement. I'm guessing they feature more heavily in the other scenario maybe.

Cool, thanks for the short review! ?

Played the other scenario and had a hilarious bug occur. The Steam app instructed us to gain the Preston Fairmont Spell. ?
