X-wing is not a delicious plate of buttered scallops despite what my cats say.

We need an errata making bacon unique, so you can't have more than one.

I'll be honest, I'm only doing this for the nested Doctor gifs.

correct... I have yet to find a bacon substitute that I would feed to my worst enemy....

Bacon is OP, I cant resist it!
Now Nutella on toast is going to be the new hotness.

(note to self, try nutella on scallops)

True. Although if you've not tried non-pork (but still meat) bacon, I would strongly recommend experimenting.

Turkey Bacon never really felt worth the effort, but Beef Bacon (essentially fried sashimi-thin slices of smoked steak) is a bit of a revalation.

Also, since this is drifting towards another bacon thread: the bacon explosion.

Theoretically one could add seafood to the stuffing, although I feel that'd be a waste with something as strongly flavoured as barbeque sauce..

Beef Bacon is pretty effin awesome. I'm not a pork fan in general. I've slowly phased all pork products out of my life with bacon every once in a while. I went vegetarian for 10 months... but chicken and a big fat juicy steak brought me back in. I cried as I ate that delicious steak...the cute cows... RIP.

I had never heard of the stuff until I was in a coffee shop in the middle east.

As you might imagine, the line item "bacon & egg roll" on the menu caused a "wait, what?" double-take

Lamb belly also makes a pretty wicked bacon.

Bacon, uh, finds a way. Yeah no seafood with BBQ sauce or strong cheese, nothing that overpowers it like you said. At least that's classical thinking on the subject. No accounting for the Guy Fieris of the world who deep fat fry their ribeye well done, then coat it in smoky jalamaplepeno ranch.

A decent baconweave on the other hand, takes more skill than I first assumed. My advice is to make sure that the bacon is good and chilly before you start. Limp, greasy room temp bacon does not hold shape well.

My initial response to this thread was basically:

”Really? After Two Beers? That’s all?”

Some days I hate my impossible to inebriate heritage.

Now I want scallops, but in red sauce over rice.

Two carbs in one dish!? What kind of monster are you!?

I can see you've never eaten at a Cuban sandwich shop in Seattle, or you would realize that scallops in red sauce over white rice is basically magical flavor alchemy.

Actually, I have. But I think such a dish could be improved by removing one of the carbs. The potatoes and the rice themselves contribute nothing to the flavor of the meal; that's all spices. And their similar texture does not help such a dish.

...you realize I'm talking about sea scallops and not scalloped potatoes, right?

Nope, I did not.

In that case, that's a hard pass from me. I LOATHE seafood. If it swims, it's inedible to me.

I believe it would be possible... Supposedly there is a type of kelp that is more nutritious than kale, yet tastes like bacon.

Scallops don't swim! They just kinda sit there. They're practically a vegetable.

Let me correct myself: if it lives in water and dies on land, it's inedible to me.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS NON-PORK BACON!!!!!!!!!!

Bacon, by definition, comes from a pig. Anything else is faekcon, meat source or no.
