What's with Han's overcoat?

I just hunted down a screen grab of the scene, and you can see the pattern is mottled - so it's most likely an attempt at wearing some kind of camo over his usual attire.

I also now notice that the box at does try to emulate this (previously thought it was just shadows).

So, quite looking forward to seeing people replicate this on the actual mini (rather than the mono-tone of the mini in the article).

Yeah, that coat is pretty blah. I can see Harrison Ford only wearing it for a scene or two before taking it off and telling George how stupid his movie is again.

I'm glad they included the coat. As others mentioned it's used for camo and makes perfect sense in the setting of legion.

Also in regards to him barely wearing it, he only stops wearing it when there plan literally becomes based on him being easily visible (to draw the imperial away from the bunker into an ambush).

The real tragedy here is that a sculptor thought an amorphous mottled blob coat would make a good, striking addition to the tabletop (it won't) and in his headlong rush to make Endor Han didn't think of one of his most iconic poses...

Unfortunately, that still looks far to much like any other Han. He pretty much had the same costume in the original trilogy with the exceptions being Hoth and the coat on Endor. After that, you would need to jump from the era to others in order to have a version of him.

The guy pretty much has just the one outfit.

There's nothing wrong with using it.

Except that it kind of hurts the glance at the minis and know the basics of what mini it is. For a leader version of Han, the coat is only used when he's been General Solo.

I'm expecting other versions of the characters to pop up, and for Han, being Captain Solo, perhaps with Chewie as part of a special or support unit rather than leader would be a great thing and make them look different enough for people to tell at a glance what you're using

How precisely would you confuse Han Solo for anything but Han Solo?

Are they going to release a Lando Calrissian commander based on that one weird shot from ESB where he stole Han's clothes?

It's more of a thing of if they're using Han as a commander or something else. They'd be different roles on the field and having differences makes a lot of sense for people at a glance.

Ahhhh I misunderstood what you meant.

I think different sculpts would cover that pretty well. I can't imagine they're going to release two different versions of the same character any time soon.

Pretty sure a special forces Han and a commander Han would just be the standard size mini. Different sculpts are nice but also interchangeable as you wouldn't be using them both in the same game so it is pretty irrelevant. I am sure we will have more sculpt options in the future.

Using Imperial Assault as a basis to draw from, FFG sometimes releases different versions of a character that have different rules profiles. Releasing Han with a coat now, gives them the freedom to release a different Han in the future.

True enough.

I might take the opportunity to do something fun with Han, like put him in a sweet black leather duster.

Will need to get hands on the model before I can decide how I feel about it. I like Veers more in person than I did in his preview pics, too

I assume that the reason is because it's so that we can have a different Han at a later date that is less of a commander and more of just a character...perhaps a special unit of Han & Chewie

Yes! Thank you! I've been saying that!

It's far easier for people to repose the minis than different clothes options there. For example there are a lot of people that have reposed their troopers for both sides already...

I’m hoping they release Luke and Han on taun tauns as special forces

Harrison Ford apparently refused any other costume ideas for Han.
